What You'll Do in This Position Purpose of Position Provide management and leadership of facility operations including the development, coordination, implementation and oversight of facility programs. Act on behalf of the area Facility Manager for the area when designated. This description is applicable to K Area Operations and EM Operations - H Canyon.
Support programmatic issues for the facilities including Safety, CONOPS, Training, Procedures, Budget, Issue Management, Facility Operations Safety Committee (FOSC) and Facilities Readiness (IEB). Provide overall direction and oversight of Facility Operations to ensure strategies and schedules accomplish facility contract milestones while maintaining compliance with the safety envelope, laws and regulations and DOE Orders.
Major Responsibilities Lead and schedule the execution of all missions, programs and initiatives with the facilities. Maintain responsibility for the overall safety and safe operation of facility processes. Interface with senior discipline and support managers including Operations, Training, Radiological Controls, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Maintenance who are accountable to this position for the performance of their respective organizations. * Ensure facility compliance with Federal and State laws and permits, DOE orders and facility authorization agreements. * Fulfill role as Chairperson of Facility Operations Safety Committee (FOSC). * Establish performance standards and ensure adherence to the standards in the facilities. * Coordinate communications with support organizations to effectively support the facilities' missions. * Perform investigations and assessments to ensure activities are safely and correctly conducted. * Provide final decision authority for classification and response to abnormal operating events * Perform investigations following abnormal events to identify and correct the cause of the events. Order emergency actions to be taken to prevent or mitigate the release of radioactive or hazardous materials. Maintain ERO qualifications for TSC position. * Lead and manage project and mission integration for complex mission scope and improvement projects.
The K Area Operations position includes but is not limited to the following additional scope: * Manage the receipt, storage and shipment of Special Nuclear Material (SNM) * Management, coordination and execution of the Dilute and Disposal Program * Management, coordination and execution of the shipment of Criticality Control Overpack (CCO) from SRS to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP). * Management of increased facility scope through small and capital projects such as the addition of the Surplus Plutonium Disposition capability.
Security Clearance Information SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
