Job Title: District Sales Manager Reports To: Regional Sales Director Location: Columbus District

Job Summary: Responsible for managing a team of Sales Representatives within an assigned geographic district. The District Sales Manager develops and leads a team of sales representatives to achieve sales objectives by growing market and promoting company products.

Candidates must live within 90 driving minutes of the district epicenter, Columbus, OH.
The district includes territories such as:


OH: Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dayton, Mansfield, and Youngstown
IN: Indianapolis
KY: Lexington

Minimum Required Qualifications: Must have obtained a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; 4 years of previous sales experience in pharmaceuticals, device, biotech or other health related field and 3 years of previous management or direct supervisory experience in a sales environment, to include performance management and conflict resolution; Current employees must have the required experience or a combination of comparable Kowa experience and proven leadership capability; Must live within the defined geography for the district within easy access to a major airport; Demonstrated ability to coach and lead sales representatives to execute the expectations of the Regional Manager and VP of Sales; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Valid US Driver's license and clean driving history; Able to periodically lift and move boxes of product weighing up to 20 pounds; Essential Job Functions:

  • Create and execute a sound business plan;
  • Set achievable yet challenging performance objectives that are in line with company direction;
  • Adhere to Human Resources policies and practices, including EEO and AA requirements;
  • Contribute to the talent management and succession planning processes to ensure that talent is identified and developed;
  • Complete Field Coaching Report (FCR) at the conclusion of each field visit with a Sales Representative;
  • Ensure that each Sales Representative has created and is executing a sound business plan;
  • Reward and recognize individual and team accomplishments, inspire team members to achieve peak performance by focusing on maximizing sales goals;
  • Monitor call reports, time records and work ethic, recognize and take timely and appropriate action with marginal and under-performing employees;
  • Conduct regular goal-setting and performance discussion meetings; coach on strategies that create new business and build key accounts;
  • Regularly visit and observe each team member in district to coach and provide feedback; the expectation is for 80% work time spent in this capacity, in the field;
  • Make managerial decisions with minimal supervision and assume complete responsibility for the assigned district;
  • Independently drive a company vehicle daily in a safe manner in accordance with company Fleet policy;
  • Operate a digital tablet or other device to appropriately demonstrate Kowa's marketing and sales tools to contribute to the sales process;
  • Submit all business expenses in a timely manner according to policy;
  • Travel independently to training and meetings; this may involve air travel and overnight stay depending upon location;
  • Comply with all federal and state laws and guidelines including, but not limited to FDA, AMA, PhRMA, HIPAA, Sunshine Act, AE and Safety;
  • Comply with all company policies;
  • Maintain a regular work schedule;
  • Dress appropriately for professional position
