Job Description
Job Title: Senior Director, Fuel Pricing & Profitability Normally Reports to: Chief Executive Officer or Chief Commercial Officer Job Objective: Develop, implement, and oversee a best-in-class fuel pricing platform by driving strategic pricing initiatives that balance optimized margins with fuel volume growth and long term customer profitability. This role will drive and expand fuel bid capabilities by leveraging RelaDyne's extensive footprint to capture and expand strategic regional and national accounts aligned with targeted margin profiles. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: In addition to the essential job functions described below, all associates will perform duties as requested by management. Strategic Leadership
- Set the strategic vision and lead the execution of a comprehensive fuel pricing strategy aligned with organizational goals, tailoring the approach where necessary based on the nuances of specific geographic markets.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to set fuel margin performance targets.
- Serve as a key decision-maker in aligning resources, technology, and business processes to maximize fuel customer profitability while balancing customer retention and growth
Team Management
- Lead team responsible for fuel pricing & margin optimization, customer fuel contracts, and fuel bids on a national scale.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for direct and indirect reports.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Pricing Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Champion a data driven approach to improve fuel pricing processes thru streamlined workflows, improved efficiency and reduced operational costs while achieving desired fuel margin targets.
- Partner with Chief Digital & Information Officer to leverage technology and automation for fuel pricing, quoting, bids, and freight maintenance to minimize processing efforts, optimize workflows, and reduce labor expenses.
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders (RVPs, Sr. Regional Sales Directors, Sr. Director Sales Operations, Sr. Director of Fuel Supply) regularly to ensure alignment, assess departments' performance versus metrics, and solution improvements as needed.
- Establish and refine KPIs related to fuel pricing efficiency, margin optimization, bid success ratios, and customer retention.
- Develop and execute the comprehensive strategic plans for fuel pricing, customer segmentation, margin optimization, and profitability across all current RelaDyne locations, including internal and external integrations.
- Optimize and oversee internal freight rates for fuel customers across all RelaDyne locations, reviewing cost to serve and market competitiveness annually, and adjusting where needed.
- Enhance department's fuel bid capabilities to provide comprehensive bid support for sales and expanded bid capabilities to enable successful bidding on strategic regional and national fuel accounts.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve fuel quoting technology & processes to equip the Sales organization with tools needed to efficiently manage the sales process and grow market share
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field, or significant relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in fuel distribution with a focus on pricing, sales or operations roles.
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
- Proven history of managing teams on a national scale and leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience with change management in both organizational communication and tactical execution
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems, business processes, order management software, and logistics platforms.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Success in leading, partnering with, and influencing senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional communication skills to inform and influence at all levels internally and externally. Must promote a collaborative environment where success is defined by effective team leadership.
Performance Measurements:
- Management of fuel pricing team to established labor metrics.
- Development, tracking and performance improvement of KPIs pertaining to fuel pricing & profitability, bid execution and bid success ratios.
- Operational cost management (labor & non-labor) performance to plan for fuel pricing team.
- Performance to company EBITDA budget
Other:
