Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant – (job location is Irvine, CA; employer is UHY Advisors Northeast, Inc.) – Perform and assist with sophisticated audits, financial reviews, and compilations for clients in various industries in accordance with the applicable accounting standards, including preparing and analyzing financial statements and evaluating internal controls. Participate in audits and financial statement analysis of various U.S. entities, including those doing business in China and Chinese entities doing business in the U.S., under the direction of the Engagement Manager and/or Director. Independently perform sections of audits, financial reviews and special project engagements for private commercial clients.  Prepare financial statements and quarterly filings. Coordinate work as assigned on individual clients to perform planning and fieldwork. Assist with the coordination of day-to-day tasks of audit planning and staff auditors in the field, including providing support on complex financial/technical tasks regarding audit procedures/software. Coordinate audit requests to meet time constraints and client deadlines. Interact with clients to request necessary documentation and information and ensure the information flow from the client to the audit team is efficient. Review and compile complex financial statements, prepare special reports detailing pertinent financial information including forecasts, projections, and budgets. Research complex areas of accounting, forming an initial opinion on the correct treatment independently and considering and documenting the impact on the client and audit engagement. Engage in financial analysis and internal controls in order to issue audit reports and independent opinions about the financial position of the companies audited. Assist clients with consulting project, such as audit readiness, financial reporting preparation, internal control (risk control matrix/RCM) and technical memo preparation under US GAAP or IFRS. Assist clients with ERP implementation consulting, including business process review, preliminary assessment, training, and go-live testing.  Assist clients with day-to -day accounting operations, such as month-end closing. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field plus four (4) years of experience in the position offered or in a related role. All of the required experience must have included experience with: supporting the audit strategy, planning, execution and delivery of audit engagements; executing complex assurance procedures; assessing the financial reporting and control environment, designing test plans, and evaluating deficiencies; GAAP or IFRS; interpreting financial data, performing accurate calculations, and applying numerical concepts; ERP; budgeting and forecasting; Risk Management; Project Management; and Microsoft Office. This role entails hybrid work, with time split between working in our Irvine, CA office and flexibility to telecommute from another U.S. location.
