About the Job

Position Overview

The Institute on Community Integration (ICI), part of the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD), has a 75% FTE Education Program Specialist 2 position working on positive supports and telehealth-related systems change. This position involves project management offering work in the context of a large, multi-year organizational change training initiative in evidence-based strategies with an emphasis on positive behavior support (PBS) and person-centered practices. The initiative involves the coordination of training and technical assistance, collaboration with local, state, national, and international professionals, and monitoring of progress for different types of training systems. This position will coordinate the activities of an internal team of trainer/researcher staff, trainees across the state, statewide in partnership with the state department across human and social service agencies, with local provider organizations, and internationally with a group of PBS researchers.

Job Responsibilities

Function 1 (35% time)

  • Coordinate Training Programs, and Technical Assistance Systems
  • Work with a team to manage the development and coordination of training and technical assistance curricula and processes related to PBS, person-centered, and evidence-based practices
  • Collaborate with a team to develop and maintain databases/learning management systems for multiple projects ensuring consistency in reporting methods and function for showing education activities of the project.
  • Coordinate annual conferences and meetings as needed for the project.
  • Interact with local/state/international leadership personnel and advisory boards related to project activities and outcomes and learn from their perspective about future project priorities.
  • Maintain content and information on websites.
  • Create flyers, newsletters, and website postings and disseminate this information related to project activities.
  • Work with information technology specialists to plan, execute and maintain the project website pages.

Function 2 (35% time)

  • Project Management and Program Oversight
  • Provide project management related reports are completed on time and as promised to funders.
  • Plan, organize and document meetings related to training and technical assistance activities of all internal and external project staff and participants.
  • Lead and direct annual performance review reporting required by funders.
  • Manage project activities and deadlines ensuring accuracy, quality and timelines.
  • Allocate project resources as required and outlined in project planning documents.
  • Supervise, coach and mentor individuals working on management-related tasks.
  • Ensure that any training and technical assistance subcontractors and consultants have current and accurate work scopes and are meeting deliverables within timelines.

Function 3 (15% time)

  • Conduct Analysis and Evaluation of Training, Education and Technical Assistance
  • Design, implement and manage the evaluation of project activities by working with team to summarize and report progress
  • Utilize effective evaluation techniques to refine products and processes developed by project activities.
  • Summarize information for reporting purposes
  • Identify ongoing and future evaluation needs related to the project's objectives.
  • Work with team reporting results of contracts and grants.

Function 4 (15% time)

  • Strategic Program Planning
  • Build and maintain relationships within ICI as well as with external project community partners
  • Utilize information from evaluation of project activities to inform future planning of community training needs.
  • Research trends related to positive supports in order to identify future project objectives.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in relevant field, with at least four years of experience, or a BA/BS with at in Education with at least six years in positive behavior support-related systems change efforts across education, public health, psychology, social work or related disciplines.
  • Minimum of four to six years of experience working in the area of positive behavior support and systems change
  • Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities.
  • Experience working with teams dedicated to increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated experience working with families of persons with disabilities and/or with people with disabilities on positive behavior support systems change projects in board meetings and/or in other volunteer organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS, Ph.D., and/or Master's degree in special education, psychology, curriculum and instruction, computer sciences/technology, evaluation, social work, or field associated with tasks in in role.
  • 5-9 years of experience working on positive behavior support-related projects.
  • Experience working in a lead on strategic planning, and leading medium to large conference coordination.
  • Experience engaging in documentation of meetings and/or editing materials for grammar, punctuation sentence structure, and readability by various audiences.
  • Ability to problem-solve and make decisions independently.
  • Experience in coordinating the work of collaborative teams, managing cross-functional groups, facilitating the development of collaborative relationships.
  • Experience coordinating large events for Associations or other organizations.
  • Ability to support the development and maintenance of databases and websites.
  • Ability to travel up to 2 times to Minnesota and/or nationally.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: The salary range for this position at 75% FTE is $50,000-$66,800. Final salary offers are dependent on the candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity within the department.
