Position Summary: Airbus U.S. Space and Defense, Inc. is looking for a driven, detail-oriented, and creative Principal Systems Engineer to define requirements, design system architecture, and analyze advanced unmanned aircraft systems. This role also includes serving as the Chief of Engineering for this project, requiring close collaboration with multiple partners. Candidates should bring exceptional engineering skills and extensive experience in aerospace programs. Position Responsibilities: As the Principal Systems Engineer on this uncrewed aircraft system project, you will lead an international team of Airbus engineers, collaborate with multiple partners, and direct efforts to define system requirements, develop system architecture, and integrate subsystems to ensure seamless functionality. You will manage cross-partner collaboration, oversee interface designs, provide technical leadership, identify and address risks, and mentor fellow engineers. In this role, you will also manage system equities across the program, working closely with integrated product teams to plan integration testing, ensure regulatory compliance, and validate performance through rigorous assessments. The program's Chief of Engineering must have a thorough understanding of the programmatic pace required for a program using the Middle Tier Acquisition - Rapid Prototyping pathway. The Chief of Engineering must collaborate across the program management team to ensure deliverables meet the high standards expected for a program in an active competition. The Chief of Engineering will also serve as the critical node for coordinating and synchronizing actions across the multiple integrated product teams required to develop an innovative combat system. Additionally, you will oversee project schedules, track budgets, document progress, and drive continuous improvement while fostering innovation in UAS technologies and engineering practices.
