About the Role:

Join our high-performing PPE New Product Development (NPD) team and play a pivotal role in developing groundbreaking safety solutions that protect those who build our world. As a Design Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of innovation, translating user needs, new technology, and market trends into cutting-edge product designs. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, product quality, and manufacturing experts, to bring innovative PPE concepts to life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of innovative PPE products from initial concept to mass production:
    • Leverage engineering principles and tools (e.g., 3D modeling, GD&T, FEA, materials science, biomechanics) to solve complex design challenges.
    • Conduct rigorous testing and analysis to ensure product performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards.
    • Analyze data and present clear engineering recommendations to Project Leaders and the global engineering team
    • Develop and implement robust design verification and validation plans.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., manufacturing, quality, marketing, suppliers) to ensure smooth product transitions from concept to production.
    • Balance workload and priorities with input from your supervisor to execute multiple PPE projects of varying complexity.
  • Foster a culture of innovation:
    • Actively seek out and enthusiastically embrace new ideas and approaches.
    • Contribute creative ideas for new product concepts, and actively participate in brainstorming sessions.
    • Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge within the team.
    • Utilize a hands-on approach and actively participate in prototyping and testing activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement:
    • Identify and implement design optimizations to enhance product performance, reduce costs, and improve manufacturability.
    • Conduct root cause analysis of design and manufacturing issues to identify corrective actions.
    • Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Textiles Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: 0-3 years of relevant experience in product design, development, or a related field.
    • Experience with PPE, Textiles, or highly regulated products is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, Creo)
    • Strong understanding of engineering principles (e.g., statics, dynamics, materials science, manufacturing processes)
    • Experience with FEA software (e.g., ANSYS) is a plus
    • Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab) is a plus
  • Other Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
    • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • A passion for safety and a strong desire to make a positive impact
    • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
