Job Description

The Safety Specialist is responsible for maintaining all safety programs within the Milford, CT division and ensuring all employees are trained on and following all safety policies and procedures. The Safety Specialist will handle all employee safety concerns, ensure weekly, monthly, and annual safety trainings/meetings are conducted, and ensure new employee safety orientation is performed as required by specific job duties. This position will maintain and update the following: OSHA 300 and 300A logs, SDS documentation, written compliance programs per OSHA regulations, divisional safety postings and communications, and records for daily, monthly, and yearly inspections for equipment. The Safety Specialist will also oversee Workers' Compensation activities, conduct facility accident investigations, root cause analysis, and the completion of corrective actions, as well as conduct safety audits on a regular basis. The Specialist will recommend, purchase, and maintain inventory of safety supplies and equipment, along with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications



  • Minimum of Associate's Degree in related field
  • 2+ years of safety, health and/or environmental experience in a manufacturing setting
  • OSHA 30 Hour Certification preferred
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications, notably Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Skilled at written/verbal communication
  • Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and EPA standards
  • Skilled at training on various topics, including forklift safety, crane safety, general standards, etc.
  • Ability to work efficiently with little supervision
