Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Manufacturing Machines

About the Role:

The Irvine Manufacturing team supports the production of crimped assemblies used in Omnipods at our main manufacturing facility in Acton, MA. These assemblies incorporate a specialized Shape-Memory Alloy (SMA) wire. We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to collaborate with the engineering team in designing and constructing manufacturing machines for SMA wire production.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in electrical design, schematics (AutoCAD Electrical), and PLC systems (Allen-Bradley CompactLogix).

Key Responsibilities:




  • Machine and Panel Safety:



    • Learn and apply industry standards for machine and panel safety.
    • Ensure proper insulation colors, wire gauges, and routing methods are used when wiring panels and machines.



  • Electrical Design and Wiring:



    • Read and interpret electrical schematics to wire panels and machines accurately.
    • Design and review schematics, making updates as needed to ensure correctness.



  • PLC and HMI Programming:



    • Design and review PLC and HMI software, ensuring accuracy and functionality.
    • Make necessary updates to PLC and HMI programs and report changes to the team.



  • Documentation and Validation:



    • Create and maintain documentation that conforms to company standards.
    • Support the validation of machines by producing required deliverables.



  • Collaboration and Compliance:



    • Work closely with lead engineers to meet production goals.
    • Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure compliance.




Education and Experience:



  • Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics for manufacturing machines.
    • Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical software.
    • Knowledge of PLCs, particularly Allen-Bradley CompactLogix systems.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, etc.).

The base pay range above represents the low and high end of the base compensation range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual base compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, actual experience, and job performance.
