The Opportunity

Join our dynamic Research Contracts Group as a Contracts Manager where you will be the pivotal point of contact for all agreement requirements within assigned Research departments. You will manage the life cycle of various contracts, ensuring the scientific and business needs are met, while closely collaborating with Research scientists, subject matter experts, Legal, Finance, business partners, and senior management. The Project Manager has a working understanding of legal terminology and experience drafting and negotiating contracts in addition to managing budgets and post execution activities.

  • Draft and negotiate a diverse range of agreements, including master service agreements, material transfer agreements, collaboration agreements, and more, using department templates, playbooks and guidelines.

  • Act as the single point of contact for internal and external stakeholders within assigned Research departments, resolving contractual issues with strategic input from management as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable policies and procedures, providing direction from managers, legal, or business partners as necessary.

  • Reviewing fully executed agreements to determine effective/expirations dates, identifying and tracking reporting or other contractual obligations under such agreements;

  • Manage all execution and post-execution processing of agreements, including recording agreements in database, milestone payments, filing agreements with Records, compiling tax forms, initiating P.O.'s and submitting invoices.

  • Administer and manage the Research Grants Program, working strategically with Sr. Leadership on the annual budget allocation, ensuring operational effectiveness, reporting, and community relationship maintenance.

Who You Are

You are a highly skilled professional with a solid background and relevant experience in contract management within the pharmaceutical, biotech, university or tech settings. Your ability to work independently while providing exceptional customer service, and handling multiple priorities is essential.

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific, business, or legal discipline.

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience, with at least 2 years in contract management OR minimum of 3 years experience with a Master's degree OR up to 2 years experience with a JD/PhD

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with scientists, attorneys, contract negotiators, and industry executives.

  • Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.

  • Detail-oriented with a team-player attitude and high work ethic.

  • Demonstrated experience with databases and enterprise business systems such as: office suites such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and Google Applications (Mail, Calendar, Documents, etc.)

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to work with leadership.

Preferred

  • Advanced degrees such as an MBA or JD in a scientific, business, or legal discipline.

  • An understanding of data protection laws is a plus.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $89,500 and $166,300. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
