The Director of Access for Home Health and Hospice Agencies will oversee the intake of referrals, authorization processes, business development initiatives, and fiscal management regarding approvals/denials. This leadership role is critical to ensuring efficient access to home health and hospice services, enhancing patient care, and driving growth in service delivery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor's degree in nursing, healthcare administration, business management, or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare access, home health, or hospice services, with progressive leadership experience.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Master's degree in nursing, healthcare administration, business management, or related field.

Referral Management:

  • Oversee the intake process for all referrals received by home health and hospice agencies.

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of referrals to facilitate seamless patient transitions.

  • Collaborate with clinical teams to assess patient needs and determine appropriate services.

Authorization and Compliance:

  • Manage the authorization process for services, ensuring adherence to regulatory and payer requirements.

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance compliance and minimize denials.

  • Monitor authorization trends and work with teams to address any issues or challenges.

Business Development:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities to expand service offerings and increase market share.

  • Build and maintain relationships with referral sources, including physicians, hospitals, and community organizations.

  • Collaborate with marketing teams to promote home health and hospice services effectively.

Fiscal Management:

  • Develop and oversee budgets for the access department, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability.

  • Analyze financial performance and implement strategies to improve revenue cycle management for denials.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess departmental efficiency and effectiveness.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of access coordinators and administrative staff.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing professional development opportunities.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, payer processes, and the home health and hospice landscape.

  • Proven track record in business development and fiscal management.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and manage multiple priorities effectively.
