About the Role
As Engineer 2, Packaging within the Supply Chain Management (SCM) team at AESC, you will be a vital contributor to the design, optimization, and implementation of packaging solutions that ensure product protection, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. Reporting to the Interim Global Sr. Manager, Global SCM, this role will provide mid-level packaging engineering support for all three gigafactories, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that packaging solutions meet the demands of high-volume battery manufacturing. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a mid-career packaging engineer to advance their career in the rapidly growing EV and ESS battery sector, driving continuous improvement and innovation in packaging solutions across AESC's U.S. operations.
What You Will Do
- Production Management System Development:
- Participate in the design, launch, and improvement of the Production Management System (PMS), aligning with lean manufacturing principles to drive operational efficiency and standardization.
- Collaborate on the development and digitalization of business processes that support global manufacturing operations, ensuring alignment with business and quality standards.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process optimization and document business requirements for system enhancements.
- Global Plant Launch Support:
- Provide hands-on support during the launch of new manufacturing plants, including the rollout of IMS training, system implementation, and on-site troubleshooting.
- Assist in shop floor activities to ensure alignment with the company's KPIs and drive successful launch outcomes.
- Document & Database Management:
- Revise and maintain PMS documents based on internal feedback and customer requirements, ensuring that documentation is updated regularly and reflects current standards.
- Manage the SharePoint (or similar) database to maintain global standards for the production management system and provide easy access to stakeholders.
- Compliance & Reporting:
- Support compliance efforts with industry standards, such as IATF16949 and ISO14001, and assist in internal evaluations to ensure all processes meet quality and regulatory standards.
- Prepare and distribute recurring reports and communications to global stakeholders, contributing to continuous system improvements.
- Perform internal audits and evaluations to verify compliance with QMS procedures and identify areas for enhancement.
- Collaboration & Project Management:
- Coordinate with different regional stakeholders, including manufacturing, quality, and operations teams, to develop improved business processes and align regional execution with global standards.
- Assist Global IMS Management in the development and execution of project roadmaps, prioritizing and planning key deliverables.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Work across different regions and shifts to provide ongoing support and ensure that the global IMS is meeting organizational objectives.
- As necessary, perform other related duties aligned with global IMS objectives.
Travel
Domestic travel to other AESC sites is required.

Work Environment
The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic. Qualifications
What You Need
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of packaging engineering experience, ideally in high-volume manufacturing environments, such as automotive, EV battery, or energy storage sectors.
- Proven experience in the design, prototyping, and implementation of packaging solutions, with a focus on cost-efficiency, sustainability, and durability.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other packaging design software for creating and modifying packaging structures.
- Strong understanding of packaging materials (e.g., corrugated, plastics, foams, and other protective materials) and their applications in industrial settings.
- Knowledge of supply chain and logistics as it relates to packaging, including transportation, warehousing, and cost optimization.
- Experience with sustainability initiatives in packaging design, including material reduction and recyclable solutions.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret testing results and optimize packaging based on performance metrics.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (Training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
- Understands and follows all standards of ISO12001 environmental standards. (Training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
What is "Nice to Have"?
- Greenfield/Brownfield Experience:
- Experience supporting greenfield (new plant construction) and/or brownfield (retooling) projects, especially in the context of new product introductions or packaging optimizations for manufacturing.
- Industry Knowledge:
- Familiarity with EV and ESS battery manufacturing processes and packaging requirements for large-scale production.
- Knowledge of automation and robotics in packaging lines, as well as best practices for packaging optimization in high-automation environments.
- Professional certifications in Packaging Engineering, Sustainability, or Supply Chain Management.
