PURPOSE AND PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITES
The manufacturing engineering intern will primarily be focused on workplace standardization. Their role will be to support the assembly, stockroom, and paint departments with continuous improvement projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES - other duties may be assigned


  1. Perform all tasks in a safe manner, considering personnel, assembly equipment, and shop machines.
  2. Perform improvement projects as directed; with clearly and concisely annotating activities performed, properly maintaining test logs, and photographing tests/ set ups.
  3. Establish, design, or purchase equipment necessary for production.
  4. Investigate discrepancies within the manufacturing process and troubleshoot issues, leading to corrective actions and trainings.
  5. Documenting and improving methods of fabrication for a huge catalog of assemblies; including but not limited to, creating controlled documents such as assembly work instructions in conjunction with tooling lists.
  6. Provide technical and administrative support to the engineering department as requested.
  7. Assemble test fixtures and test set ups using basic assembly hand tools.
  8. Complete other duties as directed by engineering department personnel.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED


  1. Must be actively working towards a BS in Mechanical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited institution. Students in their mid-sophomore and junior year preferred. Alternate degrees and experience will be considered.
  2. To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government.
  3. Proficient in spoken and written English


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  1. Must have the ability to follow instructions.
  2. Must have demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles.
  3. Must have problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity skills.
  4. Must be punctual, self-motivated, results-oriented, possess the ability to work with limited supervision, and be a team player.
  5. Must have good comprehension and numerical intelligence (analytical), and a demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally and with the written form.
  6. Must be detail-oriented with good organizational skills. For example, adhere to test procedures without improvisation or deviations, and properly maintain test logs, read record gauges, and photograph tests/ set ups.
  7. Must have competent computer skills, including experience with MS Office products.
  8. Knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD and PDM is preferred.
  9. Must have the ability to produce consistent, accurate, and timely work. For example, clearly and concisely annotate testing activities performed.
