Given this context, the faculty in the Department of History, Politics, and Social Justice invites applications for an open rank nine-month tenure-track Professor of Political Science in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education with a start date of August 2025. This position also has the potential of an Endowed Distinguished Professorship for a distinguished candidate with extensive scholarship, grantsmanship, and an excellent teaching portfolio.Job responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses, serving as a faculty advisor, mentoring and coaching students inside and outside the classroom; coordinator of the Political Science major; and producing scholarly research that results in publications in peer-reviewed journals within the discipline area or within peer-reviewed journals that promote the teaching and learning of the discipline; facilitating presentations at well-respected professional conferences; engaging in the procurement of extramural funds with interdisciplinary teams; participating in departmental, College, and university service as well as engaging in service to one's professional discipline and the larger Winston-Salem and Forsyth County community.

The department seeks a tenure-track open rank Professor of Political Science in the College of Arts, Sciences, Business and Education with a start date of August 2025. The ideal candidate could also be appointed a potential Endowed Distinguished Professorship. Duties include teaching undergraduate courses (American Government, African-American politics, comparative politics, Introduction to political science, pre-law courses) advising, coordinator of the Political Science major and mentoring students; scholarly research which results in publication and presentation at professional conferences. Participation in departmental, community, and university service.

We seek exceptional candidates with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence and mentoring undergraduate research, interdisciplinary teaching and research collaborations, as well as engagement with and service to the broader public. We welcome candidates with a background in American Institutions, Comparative Politics, Law, and Research methods. We are most interested in candidates with an interest in working collaboratively to enhance the strengths of both our Political Science curricular and co-curricular programs. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Political Science, research experience, and the potential for attracting extramural funding. Candidates must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to a liberal arts education in a diverse educational community that serves a significant number of first-generation college students.
