The Alcohol Policy Legal Epidemiology Research Intern performs vital services and administrative duties for WisAPP. Working under the direction of the WisAPP staff, this individual performs legal research and collects information on alcohol policy issues to help create tools for prevention of excessive alcohol use from a population heath/community safety perspective, with a focus on the impact of alcohol policies on health in Wisconsin. The WisAPP project specialist will help contribute content to a database of municipal alcohol regulations and practices in Wisconsin and may draft written content such as policy summaries or memoranda for use in alcohol prevention efforts. This individual must be able to work independently and collaboratively, manage their time effectively and work with a wide range of professionals and officials from diverse disciplinary backgrounds and geographic areas, including law enforcement, municipal attorneys, elected officials, municipal administrative staff, university staff, and public health specialists. This position will review and collect municipal ordinances, resolutions, and guidances, will help organize and facilitate key stakeholder interviews, and will help collect and code verbal and written information on alcohol prevention efforts, local alcohol issues, and alcohol enforcement in Wisconsin. The position may require some occasional travel within Wisconsin. Primary Functions
