Basic Function
The Digital Marketing Manager ( DMM) plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing Denison's digital marketing strategy. This position is responsible for driving digital growth and engagement through institutional-level initiatives, including marketing CRM implementation, web strategy, content optimization based on SEO research, email marketing, paid media, and analytics. The DMM manages and optimizes campaigns and workflows within HubSpot, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness across digital channels. By integrating multichannel strategies - including search, display, social, and email - they create cohesive marketing efforts that align with the university's goals.

The Digital Marketing Manager develops measurement dashboards to inform data-driven decision-making and ensures digital strategies adhere to accessibility standards. They also consult with and train campus partners, advising on strategy and tactics to support their objectives while fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

This role requires a blend of creative and analytical skills, proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to achieve the university's communication and marketing objectives.
Essential Job Functions
1. Digital Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive digital marketing strategy that aligns with Denison's mission and objectives, incorporating best practices across all channels.Lead the design and implementation of multi-channel digital marketing campaigns, including SEO, SEM, display, paid social, and email marketing.Oversee the entire campaign lifecycle, from conceptualization and execution to detailed performance analysis, ensuring continuous optimization.Effectively manage budgets for paid search and other digital channels to maximize ROI and achieve measurable outcomes.Create and deliver insightful reporting dashboards for campaigns, leveraging data to provide actionable recommendations to campus partners.

2. Data-Driven Decision-Making: Lead web analytics and reporting for web development, webpage creation, and digital campaigns, emphasizing optimization and actionable insights."Offer strategic guidance to enhance the performance of digital campaigns, ensuring they deliver meaningful results.Utilize SEO data to drive content priorities and inform technical updates for improved visibility and user experience.Identify emerging trends and insights within the digital landscape, optimizing budgets and strategies accordingly.Utilize media monitoring and sentiment analysis tools to track and report on brand sentiment and media engagement to inform the development and execution of marketing strategies

3. Consultation and Best Practices:Collaborate closely with campus partners, offering expert advice on digital marketing strategies and tactics (email, social, etc.) tailored to their unique goals and audiences.Advise partners on best practices in digital accessibility, keyword optimization, paid media, and email marketing.Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to refine strategies and enhance outcomes.Conduct training sessions to build capacity in using marketing tools, such as HubSpot and email, and optimizing digital content.Support partners in developing content strategies that align with accessibility standards and drive engagement.

4. Marketing Systems Oversight and Optimization:Manage and optimize marketing platforms, including HubSpot and email marketing platform (Emma), to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in email marketing and digital campaigns.Develop and maintain workflows, templates, and other system assets to support marketing initiatives.Provide training and guidance to team members and campus partners on system best practices and feature utilization.

5. Continuous Learning:Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, platform updates, algorithm shifts, and other relevant trends in the digital marketing realm.

6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or related field. Relevant experience can be substituted for education.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in digital marketing
  • Demonstrated expertise in SEO and SEM, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of web analytics and SEO tools, including Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, SEMRush, and Moz.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing marketing workflows and campaigns in marketing CRM such as HubSpot, proficient in marketing automation workflows and CRM integration.
  • Expertise in email marketing best practices, including deliverability, content personalization, and audience segmentation.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to a variety of audiences.
  • Practical, in-platform experience managing paid advertising campaigns within digital platforms & social media.
  • Familiarity with tracking and reporting on performance metrics (e.g., CTR, conversion rates) across digital channels.
  • Experience with design tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Basic understanding of HTML

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience writing, editing, and integrating keyword research into content
  • Working knowledge of website structure, structured data, and other technical SEO
  • Multichannel marketing experience, spanning search, display, social, and more.
  • Knowledge of higher education marketing trends and best practices.
