The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) is an award-winning, independent global non-profit research organization dedicated to designing and implementing policies that address the impacts of the global transportation sector on climate change and public health. We provide high-quality, data-driven research to public officials, as well as to civil society and industry. ICCT is expanding its work and technical expertise regarding industrial and economic policies to support the transition to zero-emission vehicles. The political context in North America and its economic integration requires a more in-depth analysis of the opportunities to develop a robust and resilient regional EV supply chain.

Regional focus: Canada, US and Mexico (North America)

Note: This position can be based in either our Washington, DC or San Francisco, CA office.

Position Levels:



  • Associate Researcher


  • Researcher



This position will support the regional work to:



  • Accelerate the adoption of supply-side regulations in Mexico


  • Increase regional manufacturing capacity of EVs, batteries and other components


  • Adopt industrial policies and fiscal incentives that reduce the price gap of EVs in the region



You will:



  • Assist in the development of comprehensive strategies to influence a specific policy


  • Authors and co-authors ICCT publications (these include such things as blogs, briefing papers, working papers, and white papers) as well as internal memos.


  • Perform quantitative analyses


  • Reviews and summarizes technical and scientific literature.


  • Prepares presentations and presents findings in public forums (such as workshops and conferences) as well as private forums (such as invite-only stakeholder and policymaker briefings)


  • Helps organize outreach activities such as briefings, meetings, and workshops


  • Engages with external stakeholders including government officials, policymakers, NGOs, academic experts, or businesses.


  • Reviews other colleagues' work as well as consultants' work on program projects



You have:

Associate Researcher Level:



  • A bachelor's or master's degree in economics, public policy, or engineering areas or related discipline, in addition to at least two years if related experience.



Researcher Level:



  • A master's degree or PhD degree in economics, public policy, or engineering areas or related discipline, in addition to at least three to five years of experience.



Required for Both Levels:




  • Demonstrated experience in transportation or economic policy work in the US, Canada or Mexico.


  • Working proficiency in different regional English-language dialects is a plus.


  • A background in transportation or climate public policy, industrial policy, green economy, is preferred.


  • Outstanding writing and public speaking skills, with an exceptional ability to communicate technical information and policy details to individuals from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds.



Our Benefits

This full-time position will be based in our Washington, DC or San Francisco, CA offices and offers a salary of $78,600 (Associate Researcher) or $95,800 (Researcher) if based in Washington, DC. If based in San Francisco, CA we offer a salary of $86,500 (Associate Researcher) or $105,400 (Researcher). We offer an excellent benefits package, including health insurance, substantial paid vacation, retirement contribution with a generous 7% employer contribution, transportation subsidies, and other benefits.
