Westinghouse's eVinci Microreactor Development Program is hiring individuals for the Career Catalyst Program. These individuals will have an opportunity to rotate through various functional areas within the eVinci program including but not limited to Component Design, R&D/Testing, Modeling and Simulation, Licensing, Space Applications, Operations, etc.

A successful candidate should be eager to learn, think outside the box and be passionate to help develop new technology and grow the business while at the same time developing themself as a future leader within the organization. The intent of the Career Catalyst Program is to support our growing business, develop leadership skills, display aspects of being a corporate steward, and identify future career interests.

We have 2 opportunities for the 2025 cohort within the eVinci program, with both roles located at our newly opened eVinci Microractor Hub in Pittsburgh, PA.

This is a highly visible position, and a Bachelor's degree inMechanical, Electro-Mechanical, Aerospace, Nuclear is required. Candidates should have a proven record of leadership as well as a competitive gpa.

Your Day to Day:

  • Through a series of rotations, execute project work to strategically deliver value across multiple departments or global locations through planning, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork and gain hands-on experience and develop a deep understanding of different functional areas within the organization.
  • For each rotation/department, develop an understanding of the strategic direction of the department and the business environment, and evaluate how business strategies align with the overall direction of the business.
  • Identify areas of improvement and utilize problem-solving skills and data analysis to propose effective solutions to enhance the overall efficiency of each rotational department.
  • Develop a strong foundation of leadership skills.
  • Support development of the eVinci Microreactor design through each 8-month rotation. Specific day to day tasks will vary depending on the particular rotation, but some examples include:

    • Component Design:

      • Perform analytical calculations and evaluations of the eVinci micro reactor components using a variety of engineering tools and methods.
      • Develop design documentation for safety and non-safety related hardware including but not limited to functional and design specifications, supporting analyses, and qualification reports.
      • Work with cross function teams (i.e. manufacturing, R&D/testing, materials, systems, etc.) to solve challenging technical problems to progress the eVinci micro reactor from preliminary to final design.

    • R&D/Testing:

      • Collaborate with design teams to identify design features and material considerations which require substantiation through R&D and testing.
      • Plan and execute R&D/test programs throughout all phases of the design process, which may include but not limited to prototyping first of a kind components, developing lab-scale manufacturing methods, creating and demonstrating effectiveness of novel instrumentation, and design, set up, and operation of high temperature test beds.
      • Develop and implement design requirements, test plans, specifications, and procedures in accordance with quality assurance program requirements.

    • Modeling and Simulation:

      • Provide technical support for assigned work performed in the modeling and simulation of micro reactor systems and components.
      • Perform modeling and analysis of advanced reactor designs using a variety of engineering tools and methods, including developing documentation related to these calculations and analyses.
