SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE:

The Plant Controller is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial activities of of the assigned manufacturing plant, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budget management, and cost control. The role is crucial in providing financial leadership and support to plant management, enabling sound business decisions and strategic planning. The Plant Controller will lead all plant accounting functions, including month-end closing, variance analysis, and financial forecasting, and is a member of the local plant leadership team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Financial Reporting and Analysis:



  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the plant.
  • Perform variance analysis, identifying key cost drivers and performance metrics.
  • Prepare financial forecasts, budgets, and long-range planning.


* Cost Accounting:



  • Manage standard cost setting, inventory valuation, and cost analysis.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and suggest cost-saving opportunities.
  • Monitor overhead costs and manufacturing efficiency metrics.


* Budgeting and Forecasting:



  • Develop and maintain plant budgets in collaboration with plant management.
  • Perform ongoing financial forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Provide support for annual budget preparation and capital planning.


* Internal Controls and Compliance:



  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies and procedures, as well as local compliance requirements.
  • Maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Implement and monitor plant-specific financial controls and procedures.


* Leadership and Team Management:



  • Supervise and mentor staff at the plant.
  • Act as a business partner to plant management, providing financial guidance and insights.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and financial discipline.


* Plant Performance Support:



  • Provide financial input for plant operational performance reviews.
  • Support capital investment analysis and financial justification for new projects.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives and support cost-saving projects.



COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:




  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with SAP, Oracle, or similar financial systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.



REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:




  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in plant or manufacturing accounting.
  • Prior experience as a Plant Controller or similar role preferred.
  • Strong cost accounting and variance analysis expertise.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position supervises the Purchasing Associate and Accounting/Operations Specialist.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates mostly in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit while using a computer or attending meetings. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are flexible but mostly Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand but are infrequent.

TRAVEL:

Light travel is expected for this position. Possible travel for training or auditing purposes (i.e. visits to other Hydro plant or corporate office).

Must be eligible to work in the United States
