Responsibilities

SUMMARY

The Associate Attorney is responsible for conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, assisting with client consultations, and generally supporting senior lawyers on various legal matters. This role will also provide general support to the Legal Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Assist business groups to draft, review, analyze, revise, negotiate and track material supplier agreements, services subcontractor agreements, SOWs and other contract documents.
  • Draft, review, analyze, revise, negotiate and track facility leases and lease terms.
  • Draft, review, analyze, revise, negotiate and track non-disclosure agreements.
  • Assist with corporate compliance matters through legal research, preparation of summaries and policy drafting.
  • Perform legal research projects, board minute preparation, and document approvals.
  • Support Legal Department efforts to draft and maintain legal document templates.
  • Manage review of and response to subpoenas and discovery requests.
  • Research background of collection matters and invoicing disputes to include gathering supporting information and documents.
  • Manage submission of insurance claims and respond to insurance carrier information requests.
  • Access and distribute service of process.

SAFETY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to, promote, and accept responsibility for compliance to Federal and Local Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, Industry Consensus Standards, and KGPCo Injury and Illness Prevention Program Manual.
  • Participate in job site safety and hazard analysis.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Juris Doctorate Degree
  • 3-4 years relevant legal experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs; Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Excellent Communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills
  • Excellent customer service skills

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Ability to read and understand basic instructions, short communications, and memos; draft simple written correspondence; and effectively communicate in one-on-one or small group settings with customers, clients, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Capable of performing calculations involving American currency and standard units of weight, volume, and distance.
  • The ability to follow written, verbal, or diagram-based instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
