The Senior Director, Market Activation is a strategic leadership role within Optum Insight's Innovation pillar that will play a critical role in launching new products in the digital prior authorization space. This leader will be responsible for defining market strategy, strategically shaping solutions that meet client objectives, and help the digital prior auth business achieve its growth targets. The Senior Director will partner closely with product, sales, marketing, and account management to evangelize our digital prior authorization vision, represent the team as a thought leader, architect solutions for customers, and bring the voice of the customer to product and engineering teams.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Engage prospective clients by offering a consultative approach, partnering with sales, and helping drive early customer growth
  • Architect solutions for customers and lead presentations, proposals, and overall client solution strategy in collaboration with sales
  • Become an expert in the space by building knowledge of customer needs and trends, the regulatory environment, the competitive landscape, and new approaches/technologies in the industry
  • Evangelize our vision and approach at conferences and other industry events
  • Represent the voice of customers to the product teams to ensure overall vision and solutions are best-in-class
  • Effectively communicate both the big picture as well as deeply understand the details
  • Operate effectively in a matrixed organization working across product, sales, marketing, operations, pricing, and legal

Required Qualifications:



  • 10+ years of professional experience in either Consulting, Product or Business Development
  • 5+ years in a customer-facing function
  • 3+ years of experience with both payers AND providers, understanding of payer and provider business imperatives and processes
  • Experience assessing market need and developing strategy
  • Proven solid relationship-building skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in a variety of settings
  • Proven comfort with ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Ability to travel 30%



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with new products and emerging healthcare technologies
  • Experience leading senior-level presentations and discussions or workshops
  • Deep understanding of the healthcare ecosystem including payers, providers and regulatory agencies
  • Working knowledge of Optum & UnitedHealth Group
  • Proven strength in making data-driven decisions
  • Proven solid leader who aligns cross-functional teams around a compelling vision, especially in a matrixed organization

The salary range for this role is $150,200 to $288,500 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
