Overview

The Head of Global Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) will lead the Company's GAPP team and serve as a trusted advisor to the organization, executive leadership, and the board, represent the Company externally as the lead government affairs employee and drive Jazz Pharmaceuticals engagement and advocacy activity with relevant external stakeholders through a global team. This leader will develop, plan and execute an innovative and fit-for-purpose GAPP strategy that reflects the company's business goals, strategy and corporate priorities. This position will report to the Senior Vice President and Senior Associate General Counsel within the Legal and Corporate Affairs function and be a member of key global leadership forums.

Essential Functions

  • Develop integrated government affairs and public policy strategy to support company business strategy across research, development and global commercialization in key markets including the U.S., Europe and Japan.

  • Coordinate with Jazz's global leaders to define, develop and implement global government affairs and public policy priorities that align with the company's objectives, regulatory environment, and enterprise risk framework.

  • Monitor and analyze political, legislative, regulatory and policy developments that could impact Jazz's business and develop cross-functional strategies and recommendations with regard to same.

  • Represent the company in meetings with government officials, industry groups, and other external stakeholders.

  • Coordinate and manage the company's participation in relevant industry associations and coalitions.

  • Collaborate with Jazz's business, legal, communications and patient advocacy teams to develop and execute external affairs strategies that enhance the company's reputation and policy objectives.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends to serve as an integral strategic partner in developing "big picture" strategies for the organization.

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses

Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Healthcare, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 15-plus years of progressive related experience in government affairs, public policy, or a related role within the pharmaceutical industry. Relevant federal or state governmental experience is strongly preferred.

  • Extensive experience developing strategies, managing major initiatives and delivering results within a complex matrix environment.

  • Extensive people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams. Ability to build strong-identity teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals.

  • Experience in translating long-term objectives into actionable, operational goals.

  • Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions and managing work to achieve strategic goals and shared objectives.

  • High-level business acumen in the areas of business operations, industry practices and emerging trends.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Ability to multi-task, be flexible and quickly pivot in a fast moving/changing environment.

  • Strategic, innovative and independent thinker who is action-oriented and a driver of change, with strong leadership and communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to look ahead to future possibilities and translate them into breakthrough strategies.

Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the full and complete base pay range is: $269,600.00 - $404,400.00

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, and other pertinent factors. The goal is to ensure fair and competitive compensation aligned with the candidate's expertise and contributions, within the established pay framework and our Total Compensation philosophy. Internal equity considerations will also influence individual base pay decisions. This range will be reviewed on a regular basis.

At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants in accordance with Jazz's Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.
