Department hours are Monday-Friday from 7am-7pm. Supervisory Duties: None Summary: This position is accountable for ensuring that all incoming teller work, merchant deposits, mobile deposits, and ATM deposits are received daily and that all work is scanned, imported, processed, and balanced within established timeframes. This will include daily phone contact with branch associates to assist with SmartBranch issues as well as communicating with CSI regarding work processing issues. This position will provide backup to other functions within Items Processing, including processing incoming cash letters, filing adjustments and lockbox processing. This individual will provide backup in handling daily Unpostables, NSF's, Stop Pays, Holds, and Chargebacks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process work from internal departments by capturing items through the SmartBranch scanner, keying items missing amounts, re-entering rejected items and balancing.
- Repair and approve work from branches.
- Interact daily with Retail branches, Client Service Center, and Treasury Management while consistently maintaining the Essentials of Excellence.
- Interact with vendors, including Banker's Bank, Federal Reserve, CSI, and other banks, to resolve processing issues and adjustment questions.
- Ensure that daily checklists are completed by processing deadlines.
- Responsible for the movement, storage, and destruction of daily work in compliance with record retention policies.
- Process incoming cash letters from Fed and Chase.
- Balance each cash letter, repairing items and processing related adjustments through Fed or Chase.
- Process lockbox deposits, providing reporting and images of items to each lockbox client per their individual arrangements.
- Complete collection requests for Canadian Checks, ensuring proper conversion amounts are applied to client accounts for items that are payable in Canadian funds.
- Complete research on Unpostable items to determine whether items should be repaired or returned, and apply the appropriate action, ensuring proper disposition of each entry and compliance with NACHA rules as well as client special instructions such as Stop Pay, Post Restrictions, Positive Pay, and Close Out requests.
- Complete research on Returned Deposited Items, applying debits and fees to the appropriate client accounts. As part of this process, identify "late return" items that can be disputed through the Fed Adjustment process.
- Verify holds placed on accounts follow Reg CC guidelines
- Verify stop payments are placed correctly on NuPoint
Other Duties:
- Associate must be willing to cross-train and assist in other areas within Deposit Operations as needed for backup.
- Special projects assigned by management as needed.
Experience/Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 2-5 years banking experience in a team environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be proficient in 10-key data entry
- Working knowledge of PC (MS Windows Office products, applications, and systems)
- High attention to detail and the ability to ensure accuracy in their work
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Extensive functional training and flexibility to deadlines and workloads
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
