General Notes

This position is in person at J.J. Pickle Research Campus in North Austin.

Purpose
To use advanced geochemical modelling to devise attribution monitoring methods for CO2 leakage in groundwater and surface wetlands.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Geochemistry, Hydrology, or related field. Proven experience in geochemical modelling and reactive transport using PHREEQC, Geochemists Workbench or other comparable geochemical modelling software. Demonstrated proficiency in hydro-geochemical research, including fieldwork, modelling and data analysis of freshwater aquifers, brines, and/or wetlands. Experience with reactive transport simulations. Publication record demonstrating relevant research outcomes.

PhD must have been obtained within 3 years from date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated research experience in water-gas-rock interactions, organic-inorganic interactions, and microbe-rock interactions. Experience with coastal and wetland geochemical ecosystems. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to effectively disseminate research findings.

Salary Range

$65,000+ depending on qualifications.

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
