Job Summary Coordinates, provides lead direction, and trains staff performing groundskeeper activities and performs a full range of groundskeeper and gardening duties for the maintenance of grounds, garden areas and public outdoor spaces. Essential Functions 25% Plants, transplants, fertilizes, cultivates, irrigates, trims, cuts and/or maintains grass, plants, trees and flowers 25% Assists in designing irrigation system layouts, and maintains irrigation and sprinkler systems 20% Provides lead direction for work assignments and utilizes communication skills with coworkers, supervisors, general public, and others to convey information. Provide customer service 15% Administers herbicides and insecticides that follow applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards that follow the state of Arizona 15% Provide direction to others to correctly run / operate heavy equipment such as tractors, backhoe, and bobcats Minimum Qualifications Completion of formal or informal education or experience which assures the ability to read, write, and speak at a level sufficient for the successful completion of the job duties as described and two (2) years of work experience related to the duties required of this position. Special Requirements Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: 1. Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License (Class D) 2. State license/certification for the application of pesticides/herbicides may be required to be obtained within one (1) year of employment for some assignments. If applicable to the assignment, the maintenance of this certification/license for the duration of employment within this classification is required, including the timely completion of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) required by the State and/or issuing authority Desired Qualifications A. Herbicide and insecticide applications B. Designing and installing sprinkler systems C. Troubleshooting sprinkler systems D. Operating heavy equipment E. Leading or directing employees F.
