Role and Responsibilities:


We are seeking a Lead Custodian to assist in supervising our custodial crew, primarily composed of individuals with disabilities and disabling conditions. In this role, you will provide guidance and perform essential custodial duties to maintain a clean and safe environment.



  • Act as a leader among the custodial staff, offering support and guidance as needed.

  • Collect recycling bins from around the facility and ensure they are distributed to the recycling center.

  • Use strong customer service skills to build positive relationships with coworkers, officials, and the public.

  • Coordinate work schedules to ensure timely maintenance and care of buildings and offices.

  • Assist in ordering and managing cleaning supplies and equipment.

  • Maintain storage areas and ensure cleaning materials are organized and safe for staff and the public.

  • Train, supervise, and evaluate custodial staff on proper chemical and equipment usage.

  • Open and close facilities as needed.

  • Keep accurate records of work completed.

  • General Cleaning Duties:

    • Clean offices, meeting rooms, and recreational facilities.

    • Mop floors, vacuum carpets, and dust furniture.

    • Wash and disinfect restrooms, replenish supplies, and empty waste baskets.

    • Ensure entrances and exits are clean and free of debris, including snow and litter.

    • Report any damage or acts of vandalism promptly.

    • Note any equipment repairs needed and maintain adequate supplies of cleaning materials.

    • Perform any additional tasks as assigned.




Requirements:



  • Minimum of (2) years' Custodial or Janitorial experience (Preferred)

  • Minimum of (1) year of Supervisory experience (Preferred)

  • Must have a valid driver's license

  • Must possess a strong proficiency in operating custodial equipment.

  • Ability to work directly with disabled individuals.


Physical Demands:



  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items, such as cleaning supplies (up to 50 pounds).

  • Spend long hours standing and walking during cleaning tasks.

  • Frequently bend, kneel, and crouch to clean floors, surfaces, and restrooms.

  • Perform repetitive tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing.

  • Good hand-eye coordination is required for operating cleaning equipment and tools.


Environmental Demands:



  • Work in various environments, including offices, restrooms, and outdoor areas.

  • Possible exposure to heat, cold, rain, or snow while performing outdoor tasks.

  • Use of cleaning chemicals; must follow safety guidelines.

  • Exposure to noise from cleaning equipment and machinery.
