HDR is looking for an Office Principal for our operations across the Orlando Area. This position will be based in our Orlando office. This individual will be responsible for managing and growing our operations across central Florida in partnership with our business group leaders and will report to the Area Manager. A strong understanding of the engineering design and construction management business is required. Technical areas of knowledge may include transportation, water and natural resources, solid waste, power/energy, industrial, building and facility design, etc. Responsibilities will include oversight of our business operations, project management, business development, client management, staff management, and office management. The individual will be the "face of HDR" in the Orlando and central Florida market and have a solid track record in the marketplace to understand market drivers, community groups' activities, thereby position HDR for success. They will be instrumental to aligning local business development activities to achieve local growth objectives with a high degree of client satisfaction. Office and staff management skills are paramount so that HDR achieves desired business metrics and also retains and recruits talented staff. This individual will lead by example in following HDR's operational policies and procedures, such as strong adherence to our quality and safety programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading, management, profitability and direction of assigned cost center
- Actively participate in development and implementation of the strategic plan for cost center development and growth in cooperation with business groups, marketing and operational management
- Manage activities of personnel within a department to provide high-quality services and to achieve or exceed plan results
- Establish and monitor department procedures, processes and adherence to corporate and company policies, project contractual terms, and quality control procedures
- Provide overall geographic leadership in cooperation with the department management team and Project Managers
- Oversee hiring, performance evaluation, staff development, training and recognition
- Maintain key client relationships and occasionally serve as Project Principal or Project Manager
- Communicate, implement, monitor and enforce company policies within the department
- Participate in quality assurance of project quality control procedures, risk management reviews, business reviews and disputes resolution activities
- Serve as a company representative in business and the community
- Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years of project management, office management, or related experience, including both experience and strong relationships in the Orlando market
- Candidate should have excellent business development skills in technical areas
- A solid track record of managing 100+ staff
- Individual must be of high character and a motivated self-starter
- Other experience and contacts throughout the State of Florida are an added benefit
- Local candidates are preferred

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
- Maintains a professional Engineering or Architecture registration and has extensive related technical management experience
- Outstanding leadership, communication and team-building skills
- Experienced in management and development of diverse teams
- Work cooperatively with company operations managers, business group and technical directors and marketing managers on departmental efforts
- Committed to quality, improvement and promoting HDR values
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
