Provide leadership in the area of International Programs through planning and facilitation of retention management and activities, staff development, strategic planning, marketing, and immigration compliance. Act in place of Executive Director when they are not available (e.g., answer questions from the staff and including Executive Director in all approvals and decisions), and act as a representative for International programs for specific committees, projects, etc. as assigned by the Executive Director. Responsibilities
-
- Maintain office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems, layout, procurement, and facilitating equipment tracking and inventory. Review existing and assist in the design and implementation of office policies, establishing standards and procedures, measuring results, and making necessary adjustments. Work with the Executive Director to coordinate and supervise daily operations and act on the director's behalf, as needed.
- Develop, implement, and continuously enhance international student success and retention programs aimed at ensuring student academic success towards degree, including the process for improving academic standing, probation, suspension and other academic-related issues. Coordinate with other student leaders and organizations on campus in the planning and executing of student-driven, data-based activities and events that can serve the international student community and improve retention.
- In consultation with Executive Director, undertake staffing responsibilities such as orienting, training, supervising, and evaluating P/T International Student Leaders and P/T student employees.
- Assist Admissions Coordinator with international admissions, including: communication from inquiry to arrival, processing applications and materials within Slate, admitting students, creating and sending the Federal I-20, working with students to achieve their visa interview and assisting with all aspects of arrival (flights, housing, shopping, placement testing, registration, pick-up, orientation, etc.).
- Assist Immigration Coordinator in meeting federal regulations and maintain student immigration compliance. Work directly with students to ensure all regulations are understood, met and followed. Maintain standardization and equity where possible to ensure all students receive ample and equal support.
- Plan, organize and execute New Student Orientation each semester, including working cooperatively with all International Programs staff to ensure efficient arrival and onboarding for new international students.
- Handle international student crisis management situations as necessary, and alert the Executive Director, Dean of Students, and other administrators as appropriate.
- Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternative Responsible Officer (ARO) and assist the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO)/Responsible Officer (RO) and International Programs DSO team with ensuring international students' compliance with all government regulations regarding international students.
- Act in place of Executive Director when they are not available, answering questions from OIP staff and including Executive Director in all approvals and decisions.
- Act as a representative for International Programs for specific committees, projects, etc. as assigned by the Executive Director.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- At least three years' Administrative/Student Affairs experience required; experience working as a Designated School Official or equivalent preferred.
- Knowledge of admissions terminology, procedures, and policies; good critical thinking skills, including understanding and interpreting policies and regulations related to the admissions process.
- Ability to demonstrate self-direction and motivation.
- Ability to respond and diffuse stressful and conflict situations, using excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in working with databases, including uploading/downloading, error checking, and data entry; comfortable with a variety of software programs, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and human relations skills.
- Ability to travel internationally for recruitment assignments; knowledge of foreign customs, cultures, and the ability to represent the University well.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time overtime-exempt staff position. Annual salary of $56,000+ depending on qualifications and experience. Desired start date of March 2025.
