Program Manager - Federal Contracts

Lafayette Group is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to manage programs/projects and multi-disciplinary teams, foster client relationships, and ensure successful client delivery for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) programs. These programs involve many of our Nation's highest homeland security priorities such as risk management, cybersecurity, critical infrastructure protection, emergency management, supply chain security, and enabling secure and interoperable emergency/public safety communications. This position will involve working closely with senior clients to understand program challenges and opportunities and to create strategies for change and leading teams of consultants and SMEs to work alongside clients in implementing solutions. The Senior Manager will also be expected to mentor and develop junior team members and take on significant roles with account management and business development efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Planning and defining the scope of the program and its individual projects
  • Developing detailed project plans and tracking progress
  • Coordinating internal resources and third parties for the flawless execution of projects
  • Supervising project teams consisting of multi-disciplinary staff
  • Managing and mitigating risks to ensure on-time, within scope and within budget delivery
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation
  • Reporting program status and escalating issues to upper management as needed
  • Managing changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of federal government, client-facing management consulting experience
  • Master's Degree in related field
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government public trust clearance or suitability
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex consulting engagements, managing multi-disciplinary teams, and advising senior level clients
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks to the program
  • Excellent communications skills and experience designing/developing communications products in a variety of formats
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, resolution, and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and quality assurance practices
  • Ability to be adaptable, and to think conceptually, strategically, and learn quickly
  • Strong time management and project skills, ensuring project milestones are met
  • Experience managing and developing direct reports



Desired Qualifications

  • Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Possess a TS security clearance and be Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligible
  • Business development experience including RFP response, proposals, and capture activities

Federal Contracts: This position involves working on federal contracts that require all workers on the contract to be U.S. Citizens. Additionally, some contracts may require the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Salary Range: $140,000 - $170,000
