About the Role
Redhorse transforms how the government uses data and technology, delivering critical solutions for national security and public service missions. As a Systems Engineer at Redhorse, you will play a vital role in designing, developing, and implementing complex systems for our government clients. You will be at the forefront of shaping innovative solutions and ensuring their technical integrity from conception to deployment. Your expertise will directly impact the success of our clients' missions and contribute significantly to Redhorse's reputation for excellence in delivering high-impact solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage system and derived requirements, ensuring alignment with defined architectures (DoDAF, SOA).
- Develop key system engineering documentation (System Engineering Plans, requirement specifications, Interface Control Documents).
- Assist in the development and allocation of system and functional requirements to hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.
- Coordinate resolution of action items from design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews.
- Participate in Integrated Product Teams to design new capabilities, considering all development and operational factors.
- Define verification methods, processes, and evaluation criteria for systems and work products.
- Develop system design solutions that fulfill functional analysis and meet requirements.
- Review and provide input to program and contract work breakdown structures (WBS), work packages, and integrated master plans (IMP).
- Participate in interface definition, design, and configuration changes.
- Derive stakeholder needs and implied functions essential to system effectiveness from system requirements.
- Derive lower-level requirements from higher-level allocated requirements, ensuring completeness, correctness, uniqueness, unambiguity, realizability, and verifiability.
- Participate in establishing and gaining approval for system/component definitions (requirements, designs, interfaces, test procedures).
- Develop derived requirements for Information Assurance Services (Confidentiality, Integrity, Non-repudiation, Availability) and Basic Information Assurance Mechanisms.
Required Experience/Clearance:
- Seven (7) years of experience as a Systems Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university (or five (5) years of additional SE experience in lieu of a degree).
- TS/SCI with Polygraph required to start.
Desired Experience:
- Experience with allocating real-time process and error budgets.
- Experience generating alternative system concepts and physical architectures.
- Experience with the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Familiarity with DoD 8570.01-M requirements (IAT or IAM certifications).
- Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
