Job Description:
- This position will be accountable for support of the purchasing team while acting in an assistant capacity to the more senior members of the team. Will work under normal supervision to perform standard duties.
- Has the responsibility for running reports Excel, GUI and Costpoint. Will perform Quote entry, printing and assigning requisitions, filing and other clerical duties as required. Will process Country of Origin (COO) and Conflict Minerals entries and reports. Responsible for timely processing of RFQs to suppliers, quotations specialist prepares and sends the quote packages, and follows up with suppliers, and compiles the CBOM.
- Assistant will work closely with all buyers and Purchasing Expeditor to help maintain and update the database and keep the planners informed of date changes. Manufacturing environment experience preferred.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Uses judgment and discretion to complete tasks.
- Organizes vendor lists and files, preparing and reviewing requests for quotation and coordinating details with suppliers, including revisions to price, discontinued items, back orders, order cancellations, etc.
- Perform general data entry.
- Maintains Supplier files, including SBA certifications and insurance, as necessary.
- Maintain & update COO reports
- Maintain & update Conflict Mineral reports
- Working closely with purchasing manager, purchasing leads and pricing department, process RFQs in a timely manner to support customer proposal activities.
- Provide suppliers a priority when multiple requests are in place, communicate internally and manage expectations.
- Ensure suppliers quotes are maintained in a correct locations.
- Monitor and manage supplier response time. Suggest, plan and execute improvement initiatives.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints is desired.
- Experience in using ERP/MRP package is a plus.
- Experience in a manufacturing, preferably in defense, automotive and medical environment is a plus.
Required Skills:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Associate's degree (A.A.) from two-year college or technical school or equivalent preferred; and 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training.
- The Purchasing department is a fast paced environment and requires a high level of organizational skills, efficient use of time, the ability to perform under pressure, manage multiple projects and continually meet deadlines.
- Experience in high-mix, low volume aerospace/defense manufacturing environment desired.
- Familiarity with UCC/FAR and DFAR requirements is desired. Requires knowledge of purchasing processes, policies, procedures and an understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Direct experience in procurement of machined parts, sheet metal fabrication, MIL-SPEC hardware, and metal finishes is needed. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications is required. Must be skilled in negotiation techniques.
