The Assistant Dean of Students provides vision and direction for the creation and implementation of a comprehensive array of student development initiatives designed to build community, promote student wellbeing and foster a caring and safe campus environment in support of student learning and student retention. Working collaboratively with a broad range of faculty, staff and administrators within the University community, the incumbent provides daily leadership and management of the Student Conduct functional area. The incumbent reports to the Associate Vice President Student Engagement/Dean of Students, serving as the Chief Student Conduct Officer, and provides appropriate high level administrative support toward the advancement of unit, department, division, institution, and university system goals and priorities. This position provides a high-level of support for the student conduct process (Student Conduct Policy, Interim Measures, Non-Academic Withdrawal Policy and Disruptive Student Guidance) and supervises the Coordinators of Student Conduct.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

* Provides administrative support to and collaborates with the Associate Vice President/Dean of Students toward advancement of unit, department, division, institution and university system goals and priorities.

* Represents the AVP/Dean of Students in their absence and serves as AVP/Dean of Student's designee in a variety of capacities.

* Serves as the primary Dean of Students' Designee in providing high level support to members of the University community in the administration of relevant University policies (e.g., Student Code of Conduct, Disruptive Student Policy, Interim Measures, Freedom of Expression, etc.)

* Develops and maintains a network of key colleagues to assist with timely resolution of formal and informal complaints, responds to internal and external requests for information and develops/implements relevant training programs for faculty and staff (i.e., presentations, workshops, discussion groups).

* Serves as the chief university student conduct officer, directing all aspects of a centralized University student conduct system including interpreting the Student Code of Conduct and Policies, supervising and/or facilitating the resolution of all complaints of student misconduct through formal and informal processes, ensuring appropriate investigation and disposition of general conduct matters, facilitating various appeals processes, developing and managing appropriate tracking systems to monitor student compliance with conduct directives and sanctions, maintaining all official University conduct records and recommending appropriate changes to relevant University policy and procedures.

* Provides high level administrative support to the Student Ethics and Standards Board including selection and training of members, advice and consultation to hearing panels, and coordinates all logistics related to student conduct hearings.

* Supervises full-time professional and support staff as well as graduate assistants and undergraduate student employees/interns and provides administrative management for all aspects of Office of the Dean of Students (ODOS) including various units assigned by the AVP/Dean of Students.

* Develops and periodically updates an ongoing strategic plan designed to facilitate the creation and implementation of a comprehensive array of relevant student development initiatives designed to build community, promote wellness and foster a caring and safe campus environment in support of student learning and student retention.

* Develops and maintains an ongoing assessment plan to measure student learning outcomes and to ensure institutional effectiveness and relevance of programmatic efforts and ensures student engagement.

* Assists in special projects assigned by the Associate Vice President/Dean of Students and serves on appropriate university committees.

Qualifications :

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and five years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

* At least 5 years of experience working with student conduct functions in a higher education setting.

* Working knowledge of laws concerning student conduct, and FERPA.

* Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.

* Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and administrators; strong leadership, organizational and communication skills.

* Experience using Maxient student conduct software.
