Job Description

Opportunity at a Glance

Legal Operations is charged with improving and maintaining the Legal team's internal processes, systems and technology tools. Our responsibilities include managing legal spend and increasing overall operational effectiveness by implementing new technologies and policies.

As the Legal Operations Specialist you will help with the Department's operations related to organizational and IT initiatives, process development and coordination, financial planning, and resolution of cross-functional issues. You are someone who has the analytical skills to help to address challenges by developing and testing strategies that ultimately impact the bottom line of ATGE's dynamic Legal and Regulatory Affairs Department. With an eye to process improvement and freeing up colleague time, you will identify business challenges and opportunities for improvement and solve for them using analysis to make strategic or tactical recommendations. Reporting to the Director, Legal Operations, you will collaborate closely with the rest of the Legal & Regulatory Affairs team, and our partners in IT and Finance. You are entrepreneurial, proactive, and highly organized.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic & analytic orientation: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics.
  • Assist in efforts to improve current processes, identify new processes, technology system enhancements and shared best practices that improve overall Legal operational effectiveness
  • Strong communication skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Clear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. Be able to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment.
  • Day to day legal support, including effective staff training and supporting knowledge transfer for all legal software systems and business process automation and optimization
  • Ability to present technical information to a non-technical audience, and the ability to understand and interpret business requirements.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in legal technology and business processes. Legal systems involved with this position include software platforms for matter management, document management, AI, workflow/task management, eDiscovery, and knowledge management, etc.
  • Familiarity and/or experience with business intelligence tools (they should know how to manipulate those tools, extract data, build the different visualizations/charts that they need).
  • As needed, support all legal team practice areas with paralegal support including creating matters, monitoring shared email boxes, managing SharePoint sites, responding to subpoenas, and other legal assistance
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest developments in college and university law and in other related areas.
  • Support other organization-wide and cross-institution/functional initiatives and projects as assigned.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-5 years of paralegal/legal operations experience.
  • Experience working in cross functional groups, in-house corporate experience preferred.
  • Well organized and efficient, and able to prioritize, multi-task and meet multiple deadlines in a short time frame.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Flexibility and willingness to pitch in on unexpected projects.
  • High degree of self-direction and motivation with good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Administrative expertise with legal management systems.
  • Additional experience in other areas of the law, such as corporate, compliance, employment, real estate or litigation, preferred.
Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $49199.33 and $86253.75. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
