Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking a Network Technician to provide network communications support for infrastructure, connectivity, wiring, and telecommunications equipment at Fort Campbell. This is a full-time position.



Responsibilities

    Perform daily research and evaluation of network technologies to complete analysis and installation of network infrastructure to support customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain diagrams of the network infrastructure and connectivity.
  • Build and upgrade LANs and WANs.
  • Perform capacity planning, configuration and version management, and troubleshooting.
  • Implement new LAN/WAN applications and hardware.
  • Identify, research, and resolve complex network problems or situations.
  • Test and document network software releases and hardware upgrades.
  • Work with customer to ensure problems are resolved or answered in a timely manner.
  • Develop processes and procedures to ensure concerns are resolved and tracked.
  • Splice, terminate, and test fiber cable to meet job requirements.
  • Perform cabling and NIPR/SIPR drops.
  • Install, remove, relocate, and troubleshoot common telecommunication equipment.
  • Prepare and install connectors for use in LAN and automated communications systems.


Qualifications

3+ years experience providing installation and maintenance for network solutions and telecommunications equipment. High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Must be CCNA certified or able to obtain the certification within six months of hire. BICSI training desired. Able to work independently with minimal supervision, work collaboratively within the team, and interact professionally with Abacus and government managers on a regular basis. Experience with computers, networks, systems analysis, data system interfaces, system development cycles and concepts, and information processing standards and methods. Experience with installation, removal, troubleshooting, and repair of telecommunications systems. Must be able to install, splice, test, troubleshoot, and terminate copper and fiber optic cables. Knowledge of Windows Active Directory, DNS, TCP/IP, switch and router configuration, PKI, and SSL. Must be familiar with a variety of terminal connectors and EIA/TIA standards. Capable of reading and interpreting technical drawings including infrastructure design and splicing diagrams. Familiar with cable testing procedures. Demonstrate flexibility in adjusting to variable workload and job duties. Able to interact professionally with all levels of an organization. Knowledge of safety precautions related to cable splicing. May be required to crawl under/behind customer work environments to gain access to client systems. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted. May be required to perform physical acts such climbing to obtain access to systems. Must be comfortable working in an office environment. Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
