Job Summary

As a Motor Service Manager at Toshiba International Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing our motor service operations. You will be responsible for managing a team of skilled technicians, ensuring the timely and efficient repair and maintenance of motors, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for making decisions on customer warranty claims and billings. The Motor Service Manager will also be responsible for overseeing the quality of service and support provided to internal and external customers. This person will work with other department managers to coordinate company activities and goals. Your leadership and technical expertise will be critical in achieving departmental and organizational goals while maintaining the company's reputation for quality service.

Responsibilities:



  • Establishes and oversees the day-to-day operating procedures of the motor service department, including scheduling, workload distribution, and resource allocation.
  • Establish rates for all services provided by the department and approve any deviations.
  • Review all repair reports and invoices to determination of how charges are to be allocated.
  • Prepare departmental budget estimates and human resource requirements.
  • Interview and approve all departmental permanent employees prior to hiring.
  • Prepare reports for and work with other department managers to improve product design.
  • Communicate with Toshiba Japan on product repair policy, procedures, and problems.
  • Establish service training programs for both Toshiba employees and customers.
  • Review training program schedules for subject content and skills training.
  • Work with customers to resolve service and warranty problems.
  • Maintain general knowledge of competitor's product offerings, industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to motor service and repair.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of motor technicians and service personnel.
  • Set performance expectations, provide feedback, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Utilize your technical knowledge to troubleshoot and diagnose complex motor issues.
  • Interface with Design Engineers to resolve technical problems.
  • Able to provide guidance and technical assistance to the service team when addressing challenging repairs or maintenance issues when they are at job locations.
  • Effectively review & analyze customer reports to determine the appropriate warranty claims.
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction by addressing customer inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to ensure customer needs are met and exceeded.
  • Responsible for working with QA/QC, Product Groups and Motor Plant in Monitoring and analyzing financial performance, preparing reports, and making recommendations for product improvement resulting in cost-saving measures and revenue growth.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

* 5+ years' experience as Motor Technician

* 2+ years' experience in leadership or supervision experience.

* Possesses general knowledge of the product line, industry standards (i.e. UL, CE, NEMA, IEEE, etc.)

* Experience with Vibration Analysis

* Must be skilled in trouble shooting and repair of AC/DC Motors up to and exceeding 1000HP.

* Ability to identify and evaluate motor Failures.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

2 Year associate degree or higher Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.

Tools/Equipment:

MS Office, Oracle, CRM, use of various electronic instruments such as meters, oscilloscopes etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

General office environment, with occasional exposure to electrical and heavy industry hazards
