Overview

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Maintenance Mechanic Grade III possesses mechanical and electrical skills, which allow them to install, maintain, troubleshoot setup and repair all manufacturing, distribution and facility equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic Grade III is proactive at identifying machine deficiencies and capable of planning, designing and implementing machine improvements with little or no direct supervision and attend to duties in a self-directed manner. The Maintenance Mechanic Grade III interacts with all members of the Maintenance Department, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Shift Managers, Team leads, Machine Operators, Facilities Management, and outside vendors/suppliers and in the execution of his duties.



Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned)

    Train and empower other mechanics and Machine Operators in skill sets required to keep equipment in peak operating condition.
  • Cultivation of company's culture and values by promoting communication, teamwork, and respectful treatment of all individuals.
  • Execute corrective and preventative work orders as assigned or as date and priority dictate and skill set allows.
  • Participate in ordering and expediting machine parts to ensure minimal downtime of manufacturing equipment including running for parts when necessary.
  • Make proper inventory adjustments when pulling machinery parts from inventory using SAP and bring any inventory discrepancies to the attention of the Engineer/Maintenance Manager.
  • Participate in 5S and other Lean initiatives as assigned by the Engineer/Maintenance Manager.
  • Operates shop machinery (drill press, band saw, arbor press, bench grinder, milling machine, lathe, and welders) in the execution of work orders.
  • Operates material handling equipment (pallet jack, sit down fork truck, scissor lift, and golf cart) in the execution of work orders.

QUALIFICATIONS

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ year's maintenance and electrical experience.
  • Perform job duties with little to no direct supervision. Self-Directed is required.
  • Ability to work on ladders/lift cages/scissor lifts and use small power and hand tools.
  • Experience operating shop machinery: drill press, band saw, milling machine, etc.
  • Understand basic welding principles.
  • Intermediate to Advanced mechanical knowledge and skills.
  • Intermediate to Advanced electrical knowledge and skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Work requires hearing, mental and visual attention.
  • Wears proper PPE in manufacturing area (shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection).
  • Able to lift 50 lbs., able to bend and lift frequently, and able to work around dust.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a fast-paced work environment with consistent pressure to complete duties as outlined above which requires ability to manage multiple projects at a detailed level and provide support to many internal departments in a fast-changing environment. Many duties listed above are time-sensitive and have strict deadlines for completion.
