Description

The Department of Chemistry at Columbia University invites applications for an Associate Research Scientist with an expertise in magnetic resonance. The position will begin as early as August 1, 2023, with the possibility of renewal, subject to work eligibility and the usual standards for satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. The successful candidate will have experience in experimental magnetic resonance and simulation including NMR EPR and DNP, as well as protein preparation purification and characterization. Responsibilities include optimization of protein preparations with isotopes, troubleshooting and maintenance of magnetic resonance equipment. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in protein magnetic resonance. This position requires supervision and education of students in laboratory work.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology Physics, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications: Research emphasis with at least 1-5 years of relevant experience in chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics or magnetic resonance. Post-doctoral experience, in-depth knowledge of instrument operation and maintenance, strong data analysis and interpretation skills, excellent communication skills in oral and written English, ability to work independently as well as part of a team, flexibility to interact with a diverse group of researchers, and a willingness and ability to train students with diverse backgrounds.
