Stock Associate - Part-time

The Morton Arboretum is a world-renowned nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and growing trees locally and globally. We are seeking a stock associate to join our team to provide a high level of accuracy and efficiency in the processing and organization of merchandise at The Arboretum Store. The successful candidate will work well independently and with others to support the Arboretum's mission with genuine passion. You'll be part of a very special front-facing team working together to thrive.

Position Summary: Fulfill all aspects of receiving incoming shipments, processing orders from vendors to prepare for sale in the retail store, shipping, and stocking of merchandise in the Arboretum's 3,100 square foot museum store, stockroom, and offsite locations.


Essential Functions:




  • Receive incoming shipments, helping to unload trucks when necessary. Process shipments from vendors according to established procedures: count, check in, inspect and price merchandise. Shelve new merchandise in the proper location.



  • Pack merchandise for shipment to customers. Process and pack vendor returns.



  • Keep stockroom neat and well organized, by keeping aisles clear, breaking down boxes, taking trash to dumpster, and sweeping floors as needed.



  • Help to re-stock the selling floor (daily), more frequently during peak periods.



  • Organize, pack, and inventory past season merchandise in a timely manner.



  • Prepare for and assist with annual inventory and large scale events.



  • Transport heavy items to customers' cars.



  • Participate in achieving departmental goals by performing special projects or assignments.





  • Demonstrate alignment with the Arboretum's employee core values to be inclusive, take ownership, work together, keep learning and make the Arboretum exceptional.





  • Other duties as assigned.





Qualifications
:
High school graduate required, some college preferred. 2+ years of retail, warehouse or office experience preferred. Experience utilizing POS software preferred. Detail-oriented with accuracy in record keeping required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience Google applications beneficial.

  • Physical Demands: Requires regular physical activity: some lifting and carrying (assisted up to 50 lbs. or more), bending, kneeling, climbing a step ladder, standing, walking.



  • Work Environment: Office and retail environment. Work is performed primarily indoors.



  • Equipment: General office equipment, point of sale (POS) system.



  • Schedule: May include weekend hours, and occasional holidays and evenings.

The expected hiring range is between $20.00 - $22.00/ hour based on experience that will be evaluated during the candidate selection process, along with internal equity. This position is also eligible for acompetitive benefits package.
