Summary
Provides specific security managerial oversight of a departmental shift or location, the incumbent also performs diversified administrative and operational tasks of a responsible and discretionary nature to ensure effective and efficient 24-hour a day security operations for healthcare facilities. Supervises operational personnel, assures appropriate security response, proper follow-up occurs on all incidents and that all documentation is accurate and complete. Participates in the formulation and implementation of departmental strategic planning, coordinates the implementation of specified operational initiatives, participates in the annual preparation of the department budget and ensures that hospital employees, visitors and patients heed hospital policies and practices relating to security issues, assesses, monitors and ensures that departmental training for departmental training of operational staff is completed. Responsible for monitoring certain building management and life safety functions and works collaboratively with key departments to ensure that the physical environment of facilities is maintained according to hospital standards and lease requirements Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions -Participates in interviewing and hiring process for operational staff; provides orientation to new employees; evaluates capability, performance, efficiency and appearance of staff on a routine basis, completing formal performance evaluations annually -Assesses and participates in the training needs of operational staff; conducts training sessions in a workshop/classroom setting -Works with department management team in its total quality management efforts in order to improve services, enhance productivity and support to the hospital community -Serves as member of departmental Senior Management Team. Participates in departmental goal setting, policy and program development, and long and short term objectives Director -Coordinates departmental and hospital-wide projects, committees and initiatives -Serves as liaison to hospital departments and/or organizations providing such services including, but not limited to, problem resolution, customer service functions, special parking needs, and maintains working relationship with landlord representatives to assist in resolving building issues/concerns -Ensures that required departmental, hospital, JCAHO, OSHA, CMS and other safety standards are adhered to by assisting with problem resolution -Conducts both security surveys and risk assessments of facilities and individual department areas Education Physical Requirements
