Summary:
SKF Aerospace is a first-tier supplier to the global aviation industry and much more. We design & manufacture complex, high performance, high-value bearings in steel and advanced ceramics. Our production group, technologies, & products are at the heart of aerospace industry and the world's leading aircraft jet engine & gearbox manufacturers at our Falconer, NY location.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the feasibility of selected concepts to meet functional, and customer needs
- Design, develop and prototype new products in accordance with company Product Development Process (PDP) requirements
- Evaluate the feasibility of concepts and/or prototypes through engineering, testing and analysis, consistent with customer expectation
- Develop timelines and cost estimates for development tasks and appraise management of performance against plan
- Evaluate, document, and implement potential design and process changes to improve product performance, manufacturability, safety and/or cost consistent with PDP process
- Obtain components/supplies/equipment to support prototype assembly, and conduct preliminary vendor assessment/selection
- Assess reliability, safety, performance and risk of new designs & methodologies; Coordinate and communicate development schedules and compatibility or design issues throughout the team continuously
- Provide input into the creation/modification of Product Specifications in alignment with Customer Requirements
- Identify, develop and implement pre-production processing and manufacturing methods and equipment; Coordinate vendor activities relative to communication of specifications, development schedules, and system compatibility
- Transfer of designs to manufacturing through liaison with design and manufacturing engineering and external suppliers
- Oversee testing and theoretical analysis of products to determine product safety and efficacy
Requirements:
- BS Mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 5 years' experience working in a related field
- Compliant to US government ITAR requirements
- Working knowledge of FEA, CFD & other related simulation tools
- Working knowledge of six sigma and experience in six sigma projects using DfSS. Green Belt certification preferred
- Ability to understand engineering drawings and specifications, analyze process data and recommend improvements, perform failure analysis and report results
- Excellent communication skills, fluency in the English language with the ability to share ideas and knowledge. Enjoy working across the organization and in international networks with an interest to learn from and share competences with others.
