Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Weld inspection: Perform comprehensive inspections of all critical welds on pressure vessels using phased array technology to detect defects at various angles and depths within the weld.
  • Data analysis: Interpret the ultrasonic signals generated by the phased array probe to identify and characterize defects, including their size, location, and orientation
  • Calibration and setup: Set up the phased array equipment, calibrating probes, and establishing proper inspection parameters based on the material, weld geometry, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Defect reporting: Accurately document detected flaws, including their location, size, and severity, and generating detailed inspection reports for quality control review.
  • Advanced techniques: Utilize advanced phased array techniques like sectorial scanning, full matrix capture, and time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD) depending on the complexity of the inspection requirements.
  • Quality control: Ensure compliance with established acceptance criteria for defects as per relevant industry standards and client specifications.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues related to inspection equipment, probe selection, or signal interpretation.
  • Training and certification: Maintain current certifications in phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) and staying updated on the latest inspection techniques and standards

Required education or minimum level:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Technical certifications including SNT-TC-1A Level 2 in UT (PAUT), MT, and PT

Experience:

  • Experience in pressure vessel and pipe assessments and be thoroughly knowledgeable in assessment methodologies such as ASME Section VIII Division 1 & 2, ASME B31.3 and ASME Section V
  • Knowledgeable with Non-Destructive Examination methodologies such as UT/PAUT, MT, RT, and familiar with the limitations of such type examinations

  • Technical background in NDT methods and procedures with five years phased array experience
