Job Summary
The Sr. Facility Manager - Critical Environments is responsible for managing the assigned sites within the account owned and/or occupied portfolio in accordance with the requirements of all local, state and federal requirements. The position is responsible for all lines of business and third-party relationships with the assigned data centers. The position will also manage a team of Facility Management professionals. The key to success in this role is to be an open, transparent and consistent communicator to all stakeholders. In this role, you have the opportunity to shape a portion of the digital economy as well as the careers and lives of the teams supporting operations. Responsibilities Sr. Facility Managers are responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our direct and indirect customers. This includes, but is not limited to: Ensure all employees safely operate all equipment and systems. Ensure all records/reports are updated and accurate. Remain professional at all times. Timely, concise, accurate, and professional communication. Attendance of all meetings requested by the customer. Following all policies and procedures, maintaining the highest standards. Manage team to meet all customer expectations. Tasks will include but not be limited to: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the data center facility, including power distribution, cooling systems, fire suppression, security systems, and environmental controls. Ensure all critical systems are functioning optimally at all times. Develop and implement long-term facility strategies aligned with the organization's goals, ensuring the data center's capacity, efficiency, and resilience meet current and future needs. Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and optimize the facility. Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance program for the data center, including preventive maintenance schedules, equipment testing, and inspections. Coordinate with maintenance staff or contractors to execute maintenance activities with minimal impact on operations. Oversee and coordinate major facility projects, including expansions, relocations, equipment upgrades, and infrastructure improvements. Develop project plans, manage timelines, budgets, and resources, and ensure successful project execution while minimizing downtime and disruptions. Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including incident management and business continuity procedures. Conduct regular drills to test emergency procedures and ensure the team is prepared to respond effectively to any critical events. Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities within the data center facility and develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies. Establish and maintain robust business continuity plans, including disaster recovery procedures, to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted operations. Engage and manage relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure they deliver high-quality services and comply with contractual obligations. Coordinate maintenance contracts, repairs, and inspections. Implement and manage an effective environmental monitoring system in the data center. This may include temperature, humidity, power consumption, water detection, and other critical parameters. Monitor environmental alarms and take appropriate actions to rectify any issues. Continuously monitor and forecast the data center's power, cooling, and space requirements to ensure sufficient capacity to support current and future needs. Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and implement expansions or modifications to meet evolving demands. Ensure the data center facility meets all relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards. Maintain appropriate documentation and conduct regular audits to verify compliance. Conduct risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and develop risk mitigation strategies. Implement appropriate security measures, disaster recovery plans, and physical access controls to protect critical infrastructure. Manage the data center's operational budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and adherence to financial targets. Monitor expenses, negotiate contracts, and identify opportunities for cost savings. Lead a team of facility operations staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and support. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture, promoting professional development and succession planning within the team. Effectively communicate with various stakeholders, including senior management, clients, and internal departments, providing updates on facility operations, projects, and key initiatives. Develop and deliver presentations tailored to the audience's needs. Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices related to data center facility management. Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance efficiency, performance, security, and operational resilience. Performs additional job duties as requested.
