Position Summary

Consumer Banking Fraud Mitigation Manager is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating fraud risks within the retail banking environment. This role will involve working cross-functionally with various departments, including Financial Crimes, Fraud Prevention, and branch operations, to ensure that established risk management and fraud prevention processes are followed and continuously improved. The manager will play a key role in protecting the organization from fraud losses, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting the safety and security of customer accounts. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of account opening tools (ChexSystems, Alloy) to mitigate fraud risk.
  • Analyze charged-off accounts and conduct audits to identify preventative measures for fraud at branches.
  • Perform quarterly audits (e.g., Reg CC) to ensure branches are following compliance procedures.
  • Manage Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) requests and ensure timely, accurate completion by branches.
  • Collaborate with the Fraud team to identify fraud trends and share insights with frontline staff to reduce fraud risk.
  • Assess and improve high-risk procedures to minimize fraud exposure.
  • Ensure proper cash handling and compliance with branch cash activity policies to prevent fraud.
Education & Experience

Knowledge of:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, including Reg CC, and fraud mitigation tools and techniques.

Ability to:

  • Provide high attention to detail
  • Provide guidance and coaching to banking center leadership and staff

Education and Training:

  • Associate degree in related field required.
  • 5+ years experience in fraud prevention, risk management or related field, with a focus on Retail Banking.
  • 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role, overseeing a team responsible for fraud detection, prevention or risk management.
  • Experience in a customer-facing banking environment (e.g. Retail Banking Branches, Call Center or digital banking channels).

Benefits and Compensation

Salary offered is based on factors, including but not limited to, the job duties, required qualifications and relevant experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance.

(Base Pay Range: $68,000 -$94,000/year)
