Department Information

Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) serves the Institute and its more than 14,000 employees through strategic counsel, employee engagement, and essential human capital management operations. As the peoples unit, GTHR is engaged throughout an employees lifetime at Georgia Tech. Our team works with sensitive employee information and assists in managing complex employee issues. Professionalism and confidence are of the utmost importance to our team.

This position helps to support the Georgia Tech Athletic Associate (GTAA), which sponsors varsity intercollegiate athletics competition in 17 NCAA Division I sports and is a proud member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Steeped in history and success while embracing strategic innovation, our programs compete at the highest level and strive for national championships. Tech fans are passionate about supporting their beloved Yellow Jackets and cherishing the many traditions involved in the program.

Job Summary

Provide professional-level support for human resources functions within a unit. This includes serving as an information resource on human resources-related processes and procedures and initiating and processing HR documentation.

  • This position will interact consistently with unit management, staff, and the Office of Human Resources staff.
  • This position typically will advise and counsel unit managers and staff.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Serve as a unit-level contact for HR-related processes and procedures

Job Duty 2 -

Review and coordinate the process of hiring requests from unit management

Job Duty 3 -

Coordinate activities associated with employee onboarding and orientation; May assist with recruitment efforts and selection process.

Job Duty 4 -

Initiate and/or process HR-related documentation (hiring packages, posting requests, schedules, reports, etc.)

Job Duty 5 -

Respond to inquiries regarding Institute and departmental HR policies and procedures; make referrals when appropriate.

Job Duty 6 -

Gather and coordinate dissemination of information regarding new or revised HR-related policies and procedures within the unit.

Job Duty 7 -

Review and recommend revision to unit-level HR processes as appropriate

Job Duty 8 -

Oversee employee record maintenance and transactions, including salary, job, termination, and other related changes.

Job Duty 9 -

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

High school diploma, GED Certificate, or Vocational School Diploma

Required Experience

Six to seven years of job-related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree, Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree, two years college course work.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

PHR/SPHR certification

Proposed Salary

Pay Range: $23.02-$31.00/hr.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS

This job requires a working knowledge of institutional human resources policies and procedures as applied at the unit level and related regulations. Interpersonal skills and spoken and written communication skills are required, as is the use of office and HR-specialized computer applications.
