This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will be responsible for planning and developing, integrating, and configuring software and hardware solutions to manage advanced simulation and training environments. You will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between software, hardware, and training scenarios.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop integration and system configuration scripts to effectively manage simulation environments.

  • Lead projects end-to-end, integrating simulation-based software with hardware systems to create cohesive and functional training simulations.

  • Responsible for developing training-specific software to support off-nominal training scenarios, ensuring realistic and varied simulation experiences.

  • Create software solutions that align procedural operations products with expected software behaviors.

  • Design and implement software required to integrate multiple complex systems, enhancing the overall training simulation environment.

  • Translate real-world data into software solutions, bridging gaps from physics models to visually represented data for simulation users such as the Integrated Grounds System (IGS).

  • Oversee budget and planning related to model and training hardware development and integration projects, ensuring efficient use of resources.

  • Conduct cost estimation and analysis to anticipate project expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.

  • Utilize project management tools such as Jira to track project progress, manage tasks, and facilitate communication across teams.

  • Interfaces with NASA customer and interdisciplinary teams to manage a project with little to no oversight.

  • Provides advanced professional expertise in software/hardware integration in the training environment.

  • Mentors and provides guidance to teammates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum BS Degree in Computer Science, Aerospace, or related Engineering field.

  • Experience with Hardware and Software prototyping, including experience with Microcontroller Units (MCU's) integrating various sensors and other systems level prototyping.

  • Strong experience in translating real-world data into software solutions, ensuring accurate representation of physics models in simulations.

  • Ability to work across multiple complex systems, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.

  • Proficiency in various programming languages, development tools and skill sets, including C/C++, Python, Bash, Linux, RTOS, QT, Fault Injection, Networking, and hardware integration.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience with budget management, planning, and cost estimation in engineering projects.

  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Jira.

  • Experience deriving engineering requirements from technical documentation.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with training simulation environments or related fields.

  • Background in developing software for real-time operating systems (RTOS) and Linux based systems.

  • Experience deriving power requirements for Training Mockups.

  • Proven track record of managing engineering projects, including budget oversight and cost estimation.

  • Experience with flight simulators and Piloting is a bonus.

  • Experience with advanced training programs (flight control, military, etc.)

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $148,014.00-$207,218.55
