Primary Purpose
The Shift Trainer reports to the Training and Competency Supervisor and participates in the development and implementation of the operations training and development programs as required by Federal, State, and Local Regulations and performs other related duties as assigned. The Shift Trainer is responsible for all facets of field and OTS Training and Competency at the Port Arthur LNG facility. The Shift Trainer will proactively develop and administer the Port Arthur LNG Training and Competency Program. The Shift Trainer must have broad knowledge of OTS systems, training design and related implementation. The Shift Trainer always promotes safety and environmental compliance by ensuring that all safety and environmental policies and procedures are developed and enforced. Assist with the development, review and updates to the site Operating Manuals and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the development and implementation of OTS/Field training and competency programs for the Port Arthur LNG facility. Accountable for the administration of all training activities including competency mapping, curriculum design, scenario exercises creation and activity administration for both OTS and field training.
- Develop lesson plans and assessment guides for OTS/Field training and assessment delivery. Provide support through design, testing and delivery of the OTS/Field systems from the vendor to Port Arthur LNG facility as required. Evaluate Operator performance during training and assessments and provide feedback to Training and Competency Supervisor, Candidates, Supervisors, and Management as necessary.
- Provide oversight for developing OTS/Field training courses, and programs to meet or exceed company requirements, best practices, and established standards. Lead interaction with Operations personnel to identify scenarios based on real time data and potential incidents found during operation of the DCS. Oversee maintenance contract(s) to ensure OTS is maintained and serviced to provide accurate training and assessments.
- Develop and implement methods to track and measure the effectiveness of training programs. Accountable for the collection and sharing of all training and competency metrics, and work with local management to ensure quality and internal standards for the Port Arthur LNG facility.Conduct regular audits and verification of all training activities for both OTS and Field, materials, and records, to ensure overall program effectiveness. Advise the Training and Competency Supervisor, Competency and Assurance of any identified gaps and action plans. Perform field observations, JSA reviews, toolbox meetings, field self-verifications, and competency field assessments.
- Perform all work in compliance with all company Environmental and Safety policies, understanding operating and permit limits to ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining maximum reliability and efficiency. Reports safety and environmental concerns, problems, and incidents to appropriate shift team members.Troubleshoot process problems and deviations from normal operations. Reacts to process upsets and emergencies according to procedure. Maintain skills and knowledge current and completes required refresher training to maintain and elevate the level of process understanding.
- Administer and execute the Operations training program. A key aspect of this program will be to function as a mentor to DCS Board Operators by providing the DCS Operators with meaningful job assignments, on the job training, and progress monitoring. Rotate in the day-to-day operation activities; fill other shift vacancies as needed; may fill in for the DCS Lead Operator/DCS Operator when vacant.Work with a culturally diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to operate and maintain the operations of the Port Arthur Liquefaction facility.

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree Process Technology or other related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Required
Experience
- 5 of progressive experience in OTS systems design and training in an operating LNG Liquefaction facility. Required
- 8 Petrochemical, Refining, or Oil & Gas / LNG Operations Experience. Preferred
Skills and Abilities
- * Experience in applicable program designs required. * Strong working knowledge of the Operation Training Simulator and its design capability. * Thorough understanding of OTS training development and delivery within an operating environment preferably with FERC requirements. Advanced
