Location: Waltham, MA

The role:The Accounting, Finance, and Compliance team of the Education Development Center (EDC)'s Administration and Finance Divisionis responsible for providing accounting services, financial planning and analysis, and advising in compliance guidance through the organization.

The Accounting and Finance Department has a part-time opening for a Senior Administrative Assistant, reporting to the Controller, in Waltham, Massachusetts.This job requires being in the office 3-4 times each week and must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours a week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The person in this position is expected to communicate clearly and courteously; to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, collaborators, co-workers, field sites, and funders; and to work respectfully with EDC colleagues. The job requires adherence to EDC policies & procedures.

You will:

  • Provideadministrative support to the department, troubleshooting a variety of problems to ensure efficiency and smooth coordination
  • Independently performcomplex assignments requiring knowledge of content area and administrative systems
  • Managetasks of intermediate scope and complexity, such as:
    • Document preparation, photocopying, cataloguing, and electronic data handling
    • Internet navigation and information tracking
    • Correspondences through email and telephone
    • Coordination of appointments and travel schedules
    • Performing data entry for Accounts Payable and Procurement team.
    • Mails accounts payable checks to payees
    • Retrieves, sorts and distributes daily mail
    • Responsible for archiving documents from international field offices.
    • Assisting accounting team to provide supporting documentation to auditors
    • Any other assistant duties assigned
  • Effectively interact with diverse staff with competing priorities
  • Engage in teamwork; accepts and utilizes feedback
  • Coordinate with others to troubleshoot questions or problems and clarify issues.
Qualifications

This position requires educational achievement; excellent writing skills; demonstrable initiative, creativity, and flexibility; ability to work independently and effectively in groups; and strong interpersonal & organizational skills.

Specific requirements:

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED plus 1-3 years advanced training

    Other skills/Experience:

    • With High school diploma, 3-5 years related clerical, secretarial or administrative support experience, including proficiency in 3 or more computer applications.
    • With other degrees, 1-3 years related experience (as above)
    • Organizational & analytical skills and aptitude for details.

      Preferred:

    • Associate degree or bachelor's degree

    This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range (full-time equivalent) of approximately $50,000 - $55,000. Salary offers are made based on market analysis and internal equity.
