The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PACCS) at the University of Minnesota is seeking a board certified/eligible Pulmonary/Critical Care physician at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank on an academic or master clinician track.

Position Highlights:
  • This academic track faculty member will devote at least 85% effort to providing high quality clinical care in a combination of both critical care and pulmonary medicine, with some concurrent education of trainees.

  • The remaining effort will be dedicated to education and collaborative research activities with the expectation of demonstrated accomplishments consistent with promotion in the academic track (an average of at least one publication per year, for example).

  • The clinical activity will be at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center and Clinic and Surgery Center in Minneapolis. It will also include time at one or more other M Health Fairview Hospitals.

  • The faculty will participate actively and contribute to PACCS Division and Department of Medicine academic and clinical programs in pulmonary and critical care.

  • It is strongly encouraged that faculty develop an area of focus and expertise, gradually developing a regional and then national reputation. Current areas of clinical need include complex chronic lung diseases, interstitial lung disease and airways diseases (COPD and asthma).

  • Faculty will participate actively in the relevant multi-disciplinary programs.

  • Faculty will be expected to participate in multi-investigator research studies and grants related to general pulmonary and/or critical care and/or other Division and Department research projects.

  • Clinical effort may be reduced with participation in salary-supported activities (research, program leadership, etc.).

  • Active participation in the Division's clinical and research conferences, journal club and core curriculum lectures and teaching of students, residents and fellows is expected.

  • Experience and skills in education and/or clinical research are desirable.

  • This position is ideal for recently trained, clinically adept pulmonologist-intensivists who are interested in developing a high-quality clinical practice with a significant educational component across both academic and community settings, while building an area of clinical and academic expertise.

Qualifications:

  • Board eligible/certified with the ABIM in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine.

  • Licensed or ability to acquire medical license and DEA in the State of Minnesota, and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
