Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Cherokee Federal is seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead and manage all financial aspects of the organization. The CFO will work closely with the executive leadership team to drive financial strategy, ensure operational efficiency, and deliver strong financial performance while maintaining a high standard of compliance and governance. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in financial management, strategic planning, and corporate finance, particularly in the government contracting industry. Additionally, the CFO must have a deep understanding of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and be skilled in leading the full lifecycle of M&A transactions, including financial due diligence, negotiations, and post-acquisition integration.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Chief Financial Officer (CFO): Pay commensurate with experience.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Responsibilities Include:

Mergers and Acquisitions:

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), from identifying strategic acquisition targets to managing the full transaction lifecycle.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial due diligence, assessing profitability, liabilities, synergies, and negotiate deal terms and structures.
  • Develop and execute post-acquisition integration strategies, ensuring alignment of systems, teams, and operations to maximize value and achieve synergies.
  • Manage risk through diligent financial and operational assessments, collaborating with legal and compliance teams to address regulatory concerns.
  • Communicate M&A progress and outcomes to the executive team and Board of Directors, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and transparency throughout the process.
  • Establish performance metrics to track integration success and monitor financial and operational performance of acquired entities.

Financial Strategy and Leadership:

  • Lead the financial strategy and direction of Cherokee Federal to ensure sustainable growth and profitability.
  • Develop and execute the company's financial plans, forecasts, and budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to the President, executive leadership team, and Board of Directors.

Financial Management and Reporting:

  • Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and transparent financial reporting in compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Drive the preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior leadership and stakeholders.

Cash Flow and Capital Management:

  • Optimize cash flow management, capital allocation, and working capital efficiency.
  • Lead efforts to identify and pursue funding opportunities, including debt and equity financing, as necessary to support company growth and strategic initiatives.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to protect the financial health of the company and mitigate financial risks.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and industry-specific regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies, including a strong understanding and application of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
  • Maintain strong internal controls and financial audit processes, working with external auditors as needed.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
  • Identify opportunities for professional development and growth for the finance team.

Collaboration with Senior Leadership:

  • Work cross-functionally with other senior leaders to support corporate objectives, operations, and growth strategies.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the President and Board of Directors, providing actionable financial insights to guide decision-making.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (required).
  • MBA, CPA, or other advanced financial certifications preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 - 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years in an executive-level financial role.
  • Proven experience in government contracting, federal services, or related industries is highly preferred, with a deep understanding of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and related compliance requirements.
  • Expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and risk management.
  • Experience with mergers, acquisitions, or joint ventures is a must.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, federal contracting regulations (including FAR), and financial compliance standards.
  • Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior executives and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive business performance through strategic financial insights and decisions.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • High integrity with a commitment to maintaining ethical standards in all aspects of financial management.
