Job Description

Analytical testing of various vegetable oils using Stratas SOPs. Testing of samples at various points in the process, production samples, inbound and outbound truck and railcar samples.

1. Communicate to management when test results indicate that corrective action is necessary.

2. Prioritize samples as they arrive in laboratory.

3. Complete analytical testing and paperwork in a timely manner.

4. Finished product and incoming material testing.

5. Learn new procedures as necessary.

6. Develop a thorough understanding of laboratory processes and procedures.

7. Attend all training and safety meetings as scheduled.

8. Other duties as assigned.

9. Storage of production retains.

10. Packaging line quality assurance.

11. Assist in other departments as needed and directed by management.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED required.
  • AAS or BS degree in a laboratory science (e.g. in microbiology, biochemistry, biology, food technology) preferred.
  • Experience as a QA Technician in a food or like manufacturing (consumer products) manufacturing environment or equivalent experience in an industrial lab required, minimum of 2 years.
  • Experience in pre-operational inspections.
  • Auditing experience preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge in Quality Processes and systems including but not limited to: SPC, HACCP, Operating procedures, and Manufacturing practices.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar industry preferred.
Additional Information

Physical: Sitting/Walking/Climbing as required in a manufacturing environment. On your feet for most of the shift with occasional lifting climbing stairs and ladders including rail cars and trucks.The employee will also be required to use hands, arms and fingers. The physical requirements are they must have the ability to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs, lift, bend, kneel, stand for long periods of time, work in small spaces, and work with heights.

Sensory:Good Listening Skills; Public speaking abilities to communicate with both hourly and salaried personnel. Along with the listening skills you have to be able to determine the purpose of what you're listening to and prioritize accordingly.Ability to perform sensory testing on in-process and finished product samples, must be able to distinguish issues from taste, smell or sight of the product.

Mental/Reasoning:Organizational; Decision making ability; Multi-tasking; Must have strong analytical and problem solving abilities to accommodate a quick paced environment (a quick thinker).
